Biking (GENERAL THREAD)

Hey guys I ride both Road and Mtbike, I have been riding for 4years now. I first started in mtbiking and then got into road racing as I became a member of the Penn State cycling club. I currently have a 07 Treck 1000 road bike and 02-03 Giant NRS XTC full suspension MTB.

The worst bike roof rack accident normally happen at Parking Decks/garage. I had one two years ago while a friend of mine and I were heading to a race when my friend drove his SUV into parking deck, we got lucky since my bike got stuck with the clearance warning tube that hangs at the entrance and the only damage was a broken seat and a pinched rear tire on my bike from when the tray got bent and pull out of the rack but the other two bikes on the roof rack did not even had a scratch.

I can probably say that was the worst weekend of my life, started with the wrong foot with the roof rack accident, and next day during my race I had a really bad crash when I took corner to wide crashing into a guard rail, flew over the bars to the other side of the guard rail ( Cutting my bottom leap, broke my two top from teeth one got lost on site the other one got bent backward, and to top it off fractured my right wrist). During the crash the Carbon fiber fork got dented so I had to replace it. The worst part is that this happened only about 3 weeks before the end of the semester and I am right handed.

During our home race a few weeks before the Crash

Damn........that's why I race only mountain bikes. The road thing is too dangerous. I have seen too many of my teammates get hurt in hard crashes in road races and crits.

On a different note, since you are from Pittsburgh, have you had a chance to ride the trails at Raystown? (Allegrippis) I just got back from a 4 day trip there, the trail system is amazing! I wound up doing over 120 miles in the 4 days I was there and wasn't bored. Great flow and super fast.

That sounds amazing!

Lol I am actually from Philadelphia and moved to Pittsburgh 3month so have not been able to to ride any of the trails yet.

I have not been able to go to Raystown since I dont have my car at the moment. And two about two year ago on my last year at Penn State the our cycling club helped building the trails but I never had a chance to go since they were camping out there.

I was going to go to the Dirt Rag festival that was hosted there this year but since my car brokedown around that time I couldnt go.
