Big sub setup :D

what kind of car? what type of sound are you going for? What brand of subs are you looking at? How much power are you looking to throw at these? From what amps? How are you looking to install the stuff? All very helpful questions that will help get you your answers! :)

One sub is all you'll ever need. Grab a JBL BP1200.1 amplifier one of the following:

If you're after one of the best sound quality (SQ) subs on the market, get a Lambda Acoustics PB15 with the Apollo motor. I've got a PB12-LE in my CSVT, and it sounds superb. It won't have the output of the big dogs, but it'll be some of the best bass you'll ever hear (and still get pretty darn loud with only 300w).

i have four 12" JLW3s and im thinking about buying this amp: http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/ABNA18001DT can i fit it all in the trunk or what do you think i should do :O i just want the damn loudest possible sound if that makes sense :)

sorry about not making it clear :D
Loudest sound, eh...well...since you've already got the 4 subs, yes they'll fit. But now the issue is the "loudest possible" requirement. You've limited your possible set-ups with 4 subs...it's gonna be harder to get 4 12w3s in the trunk with properly tuned ported boxes. Pretty much impossible to set up bandpass in there.

What kind of music do you generally listen to? Why do you need it so loud? Do you have the rest of the sytem filled out (components and power up front) so that you're not *just* bass? Why did you choose the Audiobahn amp?

i just want it really loud to where its just unbearable :D all ive got besides the subs is a nice headunit :x i chose that amp because i found it $350 on ebay and it seemed like a bargain :\

should i only use two of those 12s and buy two 15s to go with em? :x

Do you want your entire trunk to be an enclosure? Dude...here's the thing...you can get wicked, wicked loud...with just one 10" sub. With the right install, that is...it's all gonna be about install. If you have so many speakers that all you can have in there is 4 sealed boxes then you may not get as loud. You *could* sell one or two of the subs and spend more on a better amp. I'm not a fan of Audiobahn at all...too flash.

Aren't you concerned with hearing the rest of your music, though? Or do you just want enough bass to give you a concussion?

as for cthomp's suggestions...I only have experience with the brahma...but boy is that thing crazy!!!! Someone on here (Got Wake?) was running a 147dB with a single 10" Brahma (if I recall correctly). That's pretty loud in a car and outside of it...he said it was moving enough air to flex his quarterpanels, I think.

the amp is a POS.

2 of the blueprint 12's from this site:
http://www.audioliquidators.com/sub.html

would blow your mind and not kill your wallet.
the 1203 model, NOT the 1202.

an earthquake PHD2 amp from here:
http://nexxon.com/earthquake/earthquake.htm

will have plenty of power on tap for the subs. with the amp factory modded it'll do around 4k watts(headbang)

i'm looking into the PHD3;)

or check for US amps on e-bay. every now and then you can find the 2000 watt amp for a good deal. and it'll put out over 2k watts at 12 volts, and WAY more at higher voltage.

or 2 of these:
http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/1805
the power is rated at 12.9 volts if i remember correctly, and will put out over 1k watt at 14 volts.

with that said, how loud do you really want it? how much are you willing to invest on sound dampener? do you play a lot of low bass music like david banner, lil john, TI, etc? or do you want it to take your breath away when the double bass pedal hits when playing heavy metal like pantera, slayer, fear factory, etc? how much are you willing to spend? have you even looked into the wire requirements for it all? who's installing it all? who's building the box? do you really want a 200+ lb system in your trunk? i know it effects my brakes with my 250 lb system.

now lets get on to the other important stuff. what front speakers are you running? it's pointless to have all that bass and not enough front sound stage. trust me, i ran three 15's in my trunk with stock speakers(blah) it's retarded.

DO NOT MIX AND MATCH SIZES OF SUBS!!!!!! it might sound like a good idea, but it will end up sounding like crap when all is said and done.

well i would like to spend around $350-$400 on the amp, if possible not $900 like you :P

i just want it as loud as i can get it, and ill spend how much ever it costs for sound dampener - i play a lot of low bass music like three 6 mafia and lil wyte
no i havent looked into the wire requirements :( my friends would be installing it and the same kids would build the box with me (and what should i do? use all four subs or use two. what sort of box should i build should i get a fiberglass job done?)

i have the stock front speakers, but im not worried about those yet, i want mega bass then ill work on the rest of the sound :)

my friend switches every month between 2 sets of 4 15". He has 4 15" audiobahns and 4 15" eclipse titanium pro. All which goes in his 2001 Pro sedan.

If those are the subs that you've got then use three of them, sell the 4th and use the money from that towards an amp. Wire the three subs to get a fairly low impedance and get a solid amp that'll take that low of a load.

Are they W3s or W3v2s? You can probably give them 300W a piece, easily....so find something that'll give you 900-1200W RMS at whatever your final impedance is going to be...if you go sealed. Ported you could do fine with something dropping 750-900W RMS. Look into good brands, though...the ass-like off brands are more likely to fail and not put out the power that they claim.

As for the box...I say go ported...it'd be interesting to see if you could make a ported box for 3 12s, tuned to 25hz-27hz into the trunk...plan it out well, though. That's the key to making it loud...the install. Plus...if you plan it out well, you can make the box(es) from MDF, and then fiberglass and bondo over them.

GotWake is selling his 18, just get that and it will rattle every panel off of your car and then some!

yea you wanna konw somethin about audiobahn? they ctach fire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! trust me i have first hand experince i promise haha.

wake your sellign that 18? im interested how much?

if youre not going to use all 4, then id say only go with 2. ive got 2 12s right now and its loud. loud enough to vibrate other peoples cars and make my vision go blurry. also ive only got alright subs, not even top of the line. like servo said, its all in the box. with my fg boxes i can even still use most of my trunk.
