big problem

my sedan is 2002 i recently buy a 1999 cluster with tach after installing the cluster the check engine ligth turn on and now after running the car and turn off its to hard to turn on again it escape a lot of black smoke for the exhaust. please any help.

weird....i honestly cant see that being a problem with the cluster. have you tried putting the original cluster back in?

the first day i change to the original cluster again and disconected reset the ecu and the check engine ligth turn off switch the cluster again and the ligth turn on

sounds to me that the new cluster is different to the original cluster in terms of what the circuit is doing....probably causing a short or something along those lines. ie the engine is telling the cluster that the air/fuel ratio is 12:1, the cluster is then telling the ecu that the air/fuel ratio is on (maybe because instead of being connected to the air fuel ratio circuit it's changed to the blinker circuit...i have no idea, but that's just an example)...ecu then has no idea what is going on and basically trys to save the engine at all cost.

ditch the new cluster and get a 2002 cluster with tach instead

the electronics in the 99 gauge cluster is a lot different than the 2000-2003.5 ones... I don't know the details (too lazy to compare the 99 wiring diagrams and the 2000 ones) but I know its very different
