I know that the stop tech brake kit u need to buy spacers for the msp. But i was reading a post about the wilwood kit and you dont need spacers. I was just wondering if anybody had any links for a good price for the wilwood kit. thanks everybody.

Don't the Stop Techs come with spacers? I always thought that if you bought a big brake kit for a specific application, it comes with all the necessary hardware. Hmmm...

nope, the stoptech don't come with wheel spacers. they coem with caliper mounts though, maybe that's what your thinking of?

iON Performance has also mentioned they offer a BBK w/ Wilwoods. PM them for more info.

I love mine i was going to buy the kvr setup from rrracing but when i ordered them a month or 2 ago they said the price was wrong and wanted several hundred more for them and they still haven't fixed the site. go to precisionbrakescompany.com i got the mp5 kit which will fit fine since they have the same brakes. personally my brake pedal is more fun than my gas pedal now:) but i have always installed big brakes on cars that i track.

JD32883<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_900567", true); </SCRIPT> - Justin, if this is going to be used for the street, do not run with the Wilwoods. They have no dust seals, you're going to have to service them VERY often. We have a BBK available that uses 13" 2-piece rotors & 4pot calipers that have dust seals. Our kit does not require spacers. Drop us an email if you want more info.

mx3ownzj00 - we don't use Wilwood calipers on any of our road going kits. In fact we don't use Wilwood anymore *lol* It's all AP Racing, Alcon, Tarox, and some that's designed in house.

Horse - the Wilwood's have NO dust seals. They are not DOT complaint for street use either. No dust seals means that you'll have to rebuild the caliper quite often to maintain it as well as prevent it from being damaged. The Wilwood's don't have anti-rattle clips either, thus will be considerably noiser then other calipers.

If you're going tracking alot and don't mind rebuilding the calipers, then they would be fine.

You have to remember it's ~$35-$55/time you rebuild the Wilwoods. To keep it in top condition for road use, that's rebuilding it every 3 mths.

I guess I should keep in mind that most people wont do that kind of thing, it never was a problem for me as I built those systems -
but i guess for joe average it would be a pain in the neck!

PS - you wont need to rebuild them very often - mabey once a year if that much, we never had to on the kirkhams - and the holw DOt thing- its called liability - if they are listed as race only and someone screws up and gets in an accident Wilwood is not liable - they are as good as or better than any other brakes for a street car -

Horse<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_902389", true); </SCRIPT> - the frequency of rebuild definately depends on where the car is used. Here it gets quite dusty in the summer, thus making things very dirty quickly.

On any race application, rebuilds occur after ever race. We'd rather be over cautious and make sure everything is operating @ top condition, especially when lives depend in it.

In regard to DOT compliancy, calipers designed for street use are different then those for race use. That's the reason why AP Racing has 2 different line of calipers (one street and one race).

heh, sorry about that Jack. Do you offer a kit for the 3rd Gen Proteges though? AP Racing calipers are oh so sexy.

mx3ownzj00<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_903333", true); </SCRIPT> - The MSP BBK will fit the P5's & ES' as well, the only difference of what's included in the kits is that the rears will have different sized rotors.

The only Mazda BBK's that utilize the AP Racing calipers that we've developed is for the RX-7 and RX-8.

mx3ownzj00 - Our kit for the Protege's are designed/developed in conjunction with KVR. The calipers are designed in house and modelled after the AP Racing and Alcon designs. It is a CNC billet AL-6061 4 pot caliper w/ dust seals & anti rattle clips. The fronts use a 330mm 2-piece x-drilled or slotted w/ 48 directional vented veins to maximize cooling. The weight is less then the stock MSP front rotor (the 2-piece set-up), the calipers are about 1/2 the weight of the stock calipers as well. The kit also includes F&R SS lines, CF/Kevlar pads F&R, OE sized x-drilled or slotted rear rotors as well as 1.5L of AP Racing Dot 5.1 brake fluid.
