with my high milage cx 5 that has never been treated with this type of product or similar , i also did not believe my self until i tried it and i can say it was money well spentThis is a big claim to say a can of cleaner in the oil can restore power and mpg.
yes i would definately give it a try.At 74k miles on my 2014, many of which are shorter hops, I'm considering Valvoline Restore and Protect for my next oil change. Might help prevent stuck rings and oil consumption problem in the future.
I agree it looks like an attractive option. However ….At 74k miles on my 2014, many of which are shorter hops, I'm considering Valvoline Restore and Protect for my next oil change. Might help prevent stuck rings and oil consumption problem in the future.

I read that comment. I already use good quality gas and oil with lower mileage change intervals. Decent quality filters too. I'm not much of a believer of the "snake oil, miracle product, mechanic in a can" type of additives. However, a legitimate looking product (at least causes no harm) could prove beneficial in keeping the ring pack cleaner since most of my driving is shorter hops. There are no varnish or deposits on the dipstick or under the valve cover so cleaning effectiveness would have to be judged by how quickly the oil turns dark. The Valvoline R&P doesn't appear to be an aggressive engine flush so I'm not so rigid in my thinking so as to disallow some safe experimentation. Easy to monitor results over a few months and change out early if concerns.see jadmt comment
