I just installed a Magnaflow cat back system in my 2006 Speed6 and it sounds great, but after my lady returned from the store the dam rear muffler melted the factory exhaust cutout's, now does anyone know if the rear bumper is a one complete peice or can i just replace the lower lip. Will any aftermarket rear bumper or lip from a Mazda 6 work. Please help. Thank you

Look in a junk yard for the bumper and then cut off your tips.

The plastic pieces are seperate from the bumper. They also include the fake exhuast tip. It comes as a kit and the dealer said $250 a side to replace them to me.

yup common problem that has been documented on this forum and others.

Yeah, has happened to just about everyone with the magnaflow. The solution is to cut off the magnaflow tips and weld some 2.5" piping extensions to the end to fit into the stock fake tips. Thats the only way to avoid melting.

This must be dependant on how the exhaust shop installs them. I've had the exhaust for over a year and its barely even deformed the plastic. I know one person added extra hangers on to it. I tried to get them to add one they said there was no where to mount it. But as of now no problems *knock on wood* and I should be replacing it with the CP-e system.

I've had no melting problems. The rear fascia shows no deforming problems either. I did have extra hangers welded on to ensure the tips centered up in the rear fascia openings.

I'd guess it was poor installation rather than a MagnaFlow problem.

I have had the Magna flow for 5 months now and there no visable melting issues im having. Not even a little spec or anything.
