Best oil

Mazda has gone to the trouble to create a "Best Mazda" oil called Mazda with Moly. I don't understand why they don't feature it as their standard oil change oil and charge a reasonable amount for it rather than the marked up at ~ $8 per quart which is what they appear to be charging for their "Synthetic oil change" ed

I called my dealer, and, they don't even stock the "Moly" oil. They use a bulk Pennzoil 0-20. I'm taking the CX-5 in for an oil change, along with a jug of Mobil 1 O-20 (from Autozone) for them to use in place of their bulk oil.

That is Pitiful that a Mazda dealer doesn't even stock their "Best oil"
I live within the vicinity of 2 dealers. One will tell you they can't get it, the other will gladly sell it by the case or bottle and says they can't keep the stuff stocked on the shelves because it sells so fast.

Any synthetic "Brand name" will do.....Literally

It doesn't even need to be "brand name" as long as it meets the specs. But the Mazda with molybdenum is really good stuff and not that expensive for what it is. All oil that meets the specs is not created equal.

The service writer at Kennedy Mazda had never heard of it. They use Castrol, and that is what they stock.

It has a Mazda product number in their catalog. Never heard of it? Really?

I would fire their ignorant asses!

Good deal here if you buy 3 moly oil change kits as there is free shipping as well.

Anyone know what makes the Mazda oil with moly better than a good full synthetic oil like Mobil 1? Is Mazda oil by Castrol the only oil with moly?

Not sure why it is better... But Mazda Oil with Moly isn't by Castrol. If I remember correctly, Mazda Oil is from Idemitsu. Mazda (owner's manual) recommend Castrol as alternative if you cannot buy the Mazda Oil.

It has more to do with the moly in the oil from what I can tell.

Lots of info on that site and those that seem to want to try out the slickest oils.

There is another moly oil I reference in another thread in the past but can't think of it offhand...

I hear this is a great alternative.
