Best Fmic

I've only had experience using my begi fmic, but it's a great kit. There were a couple quirks here and there but it worked out in the end.

I have a Perrin and I love it. It helped my with traction also because of the fact that my response time was increased.

Pardon me, yes my endtanks were TOO ******* LONG as well thanks for reminding me :(
The pipes were too long and the endtanks came in way too far towards the engine.
As far as fuel goes I was just running the stock injectors and yes they would lean out a bit 13:1 and if I choose to not modify the MAF voltage via the MPI then it would hit cut. But you would be suprised how well these little guys held up under warmer weather.
I will be adding the extra two injectors to the mix because really that is the only non-half assed (yes I too was running half-assed) way to run the MPI and this in fact was the designer's intent.
You will get a nice increase in fuel with the two new injectors running in the IC pipe just ahead of the throttle body and it cools the charge some.

lol sorry for getting technical, just what perrin told me. thats crazy that stock injectors could handle 20 psi. i have one extra injector, 750cc plus the stockers.

Will the Hiboost kit support 300 whp nicely?

i received this email from juan at hiboost:

"We made 335 whp on our Protege 5 with the same core. I would say that 300 is very close to maximum efficiency of this core.

Juan"

I've got a kit that is pretty rare since the company went out of business and I love it for what I want to accomplish with the car.

However, I don't like thinking about the price I paid for it since when I bought it, it was new to the market.

I love the Perrin also, but don't like that I have to get rid of the actual bumper and some of the fitment problems.

If I could do it all over again, I would go custom save myself a ton of cash but I love the quality of my kit and get so many compliments on it when I take it out to meets. I like things to look great as well as perform.

It's been discontinued, I've had one on order since late April and was informed the other day about this. They threw out the tooling for the pipes and so they are no longer selling the kit. I had my heart set on it so I'm trying to see if I can get the kit anyways but without pipes, I'll make those myself if I have to. Hopefully they can still get me a kit, waiting on a response from BEGi.

so you just want the begi core? just go custom.

I don't want to have to fab the radiator bracket or have to gather all the mounting hardware. If I can get the kit with everything but the pipes then I'll do that. If it doesn't work out then yeah, custom it will be.

i thought the begi only comes with one pipe anyways. get the hiboost kit then if the begi is no longer in production. they have the same design.

BEGi just informed me that they have officially discontinued the MSP fmic kit.

i have ion's on my car and i do not recommend it!!!!! i like having a front mount, i just do not like the company.

buying used is ok i just wouldnt put any money into their pockets due to my bad experience with asking them for install advice.

quick question. i just ordered my perrin, one of the last ones and yes i paid a s*** ton for it and probably shouldnt have. but i was wondering, did they end up working out the problems with the end tanks and pipes?

The Core is a bit small IMO if you are thowing that type of Volume at it, it might cause a pressure drop.

Heat soak in Hot conditions could also be a favtor but Volume is more worring here.

Awesome man thanks. Now my next question. Is it something I can put in myself, or should I just pay to have it done?

Really depends how comfortable you are with doing stuff yourself. If you've never done something like this before invite a friend with a car to help, you'll thank me later when you need a ride to get a special tool or extra clamp in the middle of the job.

+1. I have the hiboost kit, and while i think it's much more install-friendly than the perrin, i completed it completely by myself and im a total newb. I never installed hardly anything until recently and i got it up and running -- it's pretty straightforward. But it did take me awhile, and I did need a car for a bit to get extra doo-dads and go places during the install. A buddy would have made it go much faster, but it's really not bad. Although i wouldn't feel comfortable cutting anything without some experienced help.
