What are your state laws? SMOG is cali right? You can only buy CARB parts which both Mazdaspeed parts you want would be.

I say the best combo is the Mazdaspeed CAI and CBE...(first)
the exhaust sound has nothing to do with getting smogged. the intake must have a carb legal sticker, because as soon as they pop your hood youll fail. at CBE wont change anything because its after the cats.
OK sooo if thats the rule in CA (you live there so you know better than me) you would not want a Vibrant exhaust because it replaces one cat with another high flow unit.

you would have to hear from someone who has a vibrant exhaust who got smogged, cause it might be case to case. a newer car w/ a high flow cat might have a better chance at passing smog than say an older car w/ a high flow cat. its i believe 70 dollars if you fail, so i wouldnt risk getting smogged with a high flow cat. might as well put it back to stock for a day.

Alright so I'm waiting till the 15th to get my paycheck (bank account is low due to Christmas shopping haha) and I'm going to order the Mazdaspeed CAI and CBE. I was considering going with the vibrant exhaust then putting new headers on as well but if I decide I want to later I'll just sell the MS exhaust and continue as planned

i take it you have a regular 3 and not a speed? because the speed3 has no header...

No its not a speed 3 unfortunately but after I save up 4K more I'm selling and getting a speed3.

Why waste your money on a CAI and CBE...? Just save your money and get a MS3!!!

good point autox.. I only have 25k miles on my 2005 non-turbo, and its still under warranty so I can get almost 16 g's for it. I'm wondering how much used ms3's are goin for?

Stop clowning around and get that MS3...(silly)you know 2008 is the last year they are going to be made!!!!
