the topic has been discussed over and over ... to the point where I'm still not sure. what do you think would be the best combination for improved air intake on the msp?

i just recently installed the CS SMIC and i love it, the car responds greatly! i also have an Injen CAI...great combo IMO!

Begi fmic
I remember reading that corky saw the best gains from the using the stock IC-TB pipe, so I guess hardpipes are BS(unless you wanna boost a lot).

I've had idling issues ever since I installed my AEM CAI converted to SRI, so I'm not so sure about the intake stuff. I'm gonna try something this weekend to see if I can fix it.

fmic if boost is gonna be raised at all.

if you're stayin pretty stock (in terms of boost), then i think intake (probably cai) with the smic is a good combo. unless there's something wrong with your pipes, then the stock ones should work ok. i like my hardpipes because i like hearing my bov - that's just me though ...

BTW i just got the BEGI fmic, it is awesome, I got it off another member and it came with an upgraded BPV from a mitsubishi. The bpv dwarfs the stock bpv in size, and it rids the car of turkey without any crazy dual setups. ;)

nice! Is it as good as everyone makes it out to be?

I have a hiboost fmic with cai. Works well, but I may try and convert to a sri just to see the difference.

My car runs much smoother and is better to drive overall with the turbo hoses smic and hard pipes. The car picks up much better at low rpms than before which allows me to shift less during daily commutes, and it sounds better!

Highly recommended.

10psi + stock exhaust = (braindead regardless of IC.
i would just get the smic unless you want to build the motor. hardpipes and intake offer very very little performance gains, just makes the car louder lol smic and exhaust are the way to go. last year i ran hardpipes and CAI (rest stock) and I found that having only a quarter tank of gas made a bigger difference than they did. smic and exhaust = bang for the buck performance. hardpipes + intake = 15s in the quarter lol look nice though

It livened up my car a lot. There is definitely more power all around, it feels very responsive, and boost comes on smoothly. I love it. I also love having no turkey(just a clean quiet puffff). I might post some pics if I can get a hold of a camera, mine crapped out on me.

I had some fitment issues trying to get it on, since I got in a fender bender, and crumpled the driver side an inch or so. I was driving around with no bumper on for a week and finally finished putting it back together today. I didn't test it much till now, since my fenders were loose and everything would scrape and rub if I went to fast. Damn, I treat my car like crap, well the body of the car anyways.

if you are interested in an AEM intake, I may sell mine because I dont really need the CAI in Canadian weather anymore. check out my cardomain for pics. You will hear the turbo alot more and it looks nice. pm me

I wonder what my car would run with an intake, and an intercooler, and some hardpipes...

well if you were co2 spraying before each run, and didnt have any boost spike then wouldnt it be the same......

I got a new camera today. Behold, two pics of the Turkey slayer, and one of my shiny new teeth...

I kept the license plate holder, but flipped it upside down so that is doesn't obstruct flow so much.
OH and yeah, my car is probably the ugliest, dirtiest and most beat up MSP on these boards, disregarding the totalled ones.

i think it's teh sex.

we gotta meet up sometime - i'd really like to see a car with your type of mods in person. a few protege guys usually get together on the weekends every once in a while - go cruising or something.
