Best $50 I've spent so far (Intake)

Just installed my ebay intake and am loving it!

It may not have any effect on HP (I think I feel a little, though), but just the sound alone is worth every penny. I'm a happy camper.

On a side note...I've tried using the braces that came with it so it's not just haning there. I don't have a solid mount, though. Does anyone have pics of where they mounted theirs?

is your eBay one a short ram?

If so, then go to a hardware store and get yourself a nice L bracket. It'll cost a couple of $.

Use it to bolt it to the engine itself. You'll see the bolt I'm talking about if you look from the MAF to the engine. It should hook up to the first hole in the MAF.

You might need to bend it slightly so as not to have knocking on the brake master cylinder.

I got a short ram off of ebay too. They are good quality, but they dont really give any more power. Oh well, it sounds good.

Yup it's the short one. It actually comes with some soft metal brackets, but I didn't see any place to attach it, other than next to the battery tray where the old air filter box was. I'll have to check it out.

Oh yeah, I painted it blue and it looks so cool! Just don't drop them. They bend real easy!

Did you add a washer or something to your bracket? I found my bolts bottom out on the MAF before tightening on the bracket.

Actually I just screwed the bolts in. Haven't slipped out. And I would've used washers but I didn't have any. Been over a year now and no problems. If you blow the picture up alittle you can see how I bent that soft piece of metal and where I bolted it down.

Has anyone oiled their filter? It doesn't look like mesh, such as a K&N does.

i just ordered mine yesterday, how long did your take to get to you?? I can't justify spending like 200+ for a CAI when the gains are about the same....

Oh, about 4 days or so. I don't remember exactly how long. There are so many different sellers out there, so it is possible you didn't get the same one I did.

Yeah, I think I actually only paid about $45 shipped. Then add the $5 for the DupliColor paint.

I think I might paint the strut bar tonight. Only this time, I'll pull the car ALL the way out. I had to wash the car when I was done with the CAI. It had paint dust all over it!

I got my replacement filter at Auto Zone for $20. It was just the filter and no pipe or hardware but it is was just like the one I got from ebay last year. I don't think you can oil these type of filters...not sure but they are nowhere near K&N quality.

I oiled mine. I looked at a K&n and they are somewhat similar. I used the K&N recharge kit.

knocking

has anyone had problems with the intake's 3" tubing knocking the brake master cylinder?

I fixed that with the bracket, however I can see that it is somehow touching the little metal tubing that goes to the master cylinder. I don't get why...It might be only off the line when the engine torques and moves in the engine bay...

How would you fix this?
