Beefy axles are here!

Well, I just tried to put the axles in and they wouldn't go in. Stuck my finger in the hole and there are peices of gear all over the place. Anyone have a tranny for sale?:D

I'm thinking after it broke the axles snagged on something and broke a gear.

You want to sell that tranny you have?

I do....but I don't know how fast I can take things apart and sell them...
I also need to research prices because I don't know what is too much and not enough.

Gotzoom? Do you think now that you will snap a gear axle before you snap the cv axle?

How'd the Mazdaspeed tranny install go?

I ended up going with another stock tranny, couldn't pass up the deal. As far as just breaking the tranny on its own, I guess only time will tell.

Since this thread has been brought back to the top, I will be calling to see how the axles are coming along tommorow. Hopefully they are about done so that everyone else can get a set of these.

$100 with 6 month warranty. Out of a 2001 Protege with 13000 miles. It had been sitting on the shelf for 24 months.:D I can still put a LSD in it and still make out like a bandit.

(wow) that is a good price!!!

But you know what, I just bought the lsd today for $452, two tranny bearings for $40, and some miscellaneous nuts and oil seals. The final price after shipping is $544.89. If the Mazdaspeed tranny that you were gonna get is $650, you only made out with $5 and some shop time. What happened to the old deal anyways?

im gonna assume these will fit the 2nd gen probes....since they used the same suspension components as far as i know, my buddy's P5 has all the same stuff down there as our probes

The will NOT fit the Probe. Thats why you can buy Probe axles at Auto Zone, but not Protege axles. They are the same length, but the Protege has 26 splines, and the probe has 28 splines. I am sure they can be made.

Man, so what will my next MAJOR mod be...

LSD/shot peened gears/bigger axles

or

forged internals
