Battery issue

another annoying problem happened and I'm convinced there's really something wrong.

I went for vacation for 3wks and not able to use my 9; then when I came back, I had to jumpstart it since I believe the battery had gone. After I spend 60miles of driving (40-50mph), had to rest it in the garage for 2 days and again battery went out. So 'thought I'll drive it for longer and more continuously (>120miles) and might resolve the problem. But same issue persists.

I took it to the dealer and said nothing wrong except that I have to replace the battery and recommended a premium type that is good for 5 yrs. They said initially what Mazda put is only good for 2yrs and since mine is '08 - such issue is expected; plus i have to pay 50% of the cost since my 9 is over 12mos now.

Pls provide some suggestions about if there are other remedy aside from replacing the battery; is it really correct the what we initially have is not premium kind? do I reealy have to pay 1/2 of the cost for the replacement? will I get better deal (how much do you guys think?) and more reliable battery if I go aftermarket.

thnxs in advance

Do you often leave the CX9 for several days w/o driving it?
While leaving it w/o driving, did you arm the alarm system?
What I am getting at is that if you often deep discharge the battery, the battery will go out faster than usual. Once it reaches a limit, the battery can no longer keep charges.
A new one is needed. Deep Cycle battery is better in this case such as Optimia.
That is the only "premium" battery in my book.

For most people who drives their vehicle at least once every couple days, such battery is waste of money (unless you have a high-power stereo....).

I am assuming that your CX9 is not 2010 with seat heater current leakage problem.

My battery on the CX9 is still going strong (tested in full-inspection recently) after 2 years. I usually replace battery after 3 years to avoid being stranded at very inconvenient time such as a raining day on the road.

Have the battery tested by an independent shop. If it is really gone, depending on what I just mentioned, get an Optima one or regular one from Costco.

batery anunciator didn't appear in the dash, is it suppose to? or do we have this in our 9?

when i disconnect the battery, do i have do either terminals or should be both?
