Bass

Thanks 1st MP3 in NH, the guy that will make the custom box was telling me that he will make the custom box on the way that it will be fit close to the back of my back sits so it doesn't use a lot of trunk space, so for what I undernstood, he is going to change the shape of the box to gain space, can this be done and still meet the recomendations of Alpine, like making long and short rectangular box will be similar than a square box?

BOxes are all about air volume not shape. The oly important thing is how many cubic inches of air space is sealed up in that box.

Thanks 1st MP3 in NH.

Now I have one more question about the amp before I finally go ahead and buy all this.

Some one told me that even when I'm getting the SWR-1241D sub that has 300 watts, It will be a better quality if I go for the MRD-M500 that has 500 watts rather than the MRD-M300 that it has 300 watts just like the sub does.

What do you guys think I should go for 500 watts even when my sub will have only 300 watts?

The most the difference in amp could possibly give you is ~2db which is not very noticable in a car at all. If you ever plan on having 2 subs or can get the 500 for only another $50 or somehting then do it otherwise its not worth it.

Thanks 1st MP3 in NH :)

I don't want to even look back on how much money I have spent already to get a decent sound on my car :), I think that after this I will be done right 1st MP3 in NH?

Should be ok for a time.
I assume you already have the RCA cables, power wire, speaker wire and distro block acounted for to add another amp?

This installer give me a price already with parts and labor so I guess he has all that in account, by the way what is distro block ?

breaks a large guage cable from the battery into 2 smaller or same sized cables to go to the amps. You need a way to get power to each amp from the main wire off the battery and they usualy make it the easiest.

My installer told me that the best to go is to buy some kind of special battery that is made to handle all kind of amps, over using a capacitator (I don't know is that was the right spell)

What do you think about that battery over the capacitator?

My new amp the MRV-F540 has more crossover controls than the MRV-F340 and the installer is not using the build in amp crossover he is using the head unit crossover, he say that is not need to use one over the other. Is this true? Should I be using the crossover that came with the amp over that the ones that came with the head Unit

The amps is a better quality crossover then the head units crossover. The headunits crossover just allows you to adjust the crosover more easily as you can do it from your seat.

A better battery is a fine idea but is not totaly needed, nor is a cap.

My battery as now is almost new I bought it 2 month ago, but this guy say that this heavy duty battery will give closer to 14 v to the amp than the regualr ones. What do you think ?

The crossover have to be adjust only once right?

My other dilema is that I have to fallow whatever this guy do to the crossover because I have not clue how to use it :(

(rofl)
Even the best car batteries are the same as anyother voltage wise, all are right about 12.6 volts, ALL OF THEM!
The alternator when the car is running is the only thing that can crank the system uptoward 14 volts. Once the car is off any battery will be under 13 volts again, just the way cars eletrical systems work.

Thats just part of tuning. If the speakers distort from bass, which is a poping sound then you raise their crossover point, easy.
If you don't hear any bass poping then you can bring the croosover point for the speakers done to get more midbass.
Don't be afriad to screw around with everything once its hooked up. If you don't trust your own skillz at first just make note of where everything was set before you start playing around. that way you can just put it all back.
