Bang for the buck mods on stock MSP

Somebody mention the stock intake mani? I hate this thing, thank god I got the PG one. Big difference. BTW there is a write up in the how to section on how to eliminate the cel from the cat-less exhaust. I have pics on my phone of the PG manifold but I havent figured out how to get them on the PC yet.

By "Big difference" you mean better performance, yes?

did you notice any loss in low end response, like 2000 - 4000 RPMs, or is the PG / 626 intake just better all around??

I didnt really notice much of a difference low end wise. But it definately makes a big difference in the mid to top end range. The car pulls much harder now. And yes, by big difference I meant better performance. BTW your camaro sounds like a bad ass car.

hotrod, start reading about the dsm afc. Great product for what your looking for.

aslo

I can't stress how important motormounts and plugs are....

obviously the huge debate regarding smic vs fmic is going to make your life hard but for your setup it might be good to go with going the smic due to better throttle response, which is due to the shortness of the charge pipe.

edit: btw your not allowed to ask anymore questions till you show us some pics of that camaro :P

there is also debate about the plugs. i ran the stock plugs for quite awhile and everything was just fine. i just switched to one step colder ngk's, however.

I understand... I would label plugs as a "precaution" mod...

for what you are looking for a UNICHIP is ideal. and that way if anything goes wrong you are a plug and play away from stock and will still meet your HP goals safely. pretty sure unichip + intake and exhaust = 200WHP 13.9 in the quarter mile and is as far as most want to push the stock drivetrain.

i would agree that motormounts are a must! even if you only get teh front one!

So I've heard lots of talk about how harsh the Poly mounts are. I have solid mounts in the camaro and it's not really that bad. guess it's what your used to.

So if I was to replace any of the mounts, which ones should I do for the best balance of smoothness and function? The front only?

I'm definetely thinking SMIC - and perhaps fabbing the hard pipes myself. FUN! I want to keep the lag low as possible for sure.

Would love to get the Unichip as someone suggested, but it's just too much $$$ for the daily driver.

Course the camaro started off as a "daily driver" project that now daily sits in the garage. All my friends love to bring that up . ... when their s*** is up on blocks. At least I drive mine! (sometimes)

I first bought a front motor mount (rated for automatic transmission so it was less rigid). I felt a huge difference with it and the additional vibrations were not bad at all. I then put side mount inserts in. They made a small difference, but not like the front mount. I do not want a solid rear mount replacement because it would cause mad vibrations. I bought the rear mount inserts to cut down on the vibrations. I havent installed them yet tho. So we will see...

Where do I get these inserts you speak of?

u can get the solid front motor mount (AWR) and side mount inserts (AWR) from www.*************.com and the rear mount inserts (RR Racing) from www.rr-racing.com

Last night I saw a place that was actually making the front mount in house - it was different than any I'd seen. They also make 4 pipes - J - pipe, J pipe with cat, mid pipe, mid pipe with cat. They claimed that their mount was better - it had a much larger "rubber" part in it that was supposed to dampen the vibrations much better than the poly mounts.

Can't think of the name of that place. Think it's bookmarked at home though . . . anybody have an idea who that is?

probably slsperformace. i dont know anything about there products but if i could go back and do it again, i would definitely go with the same setup.

If your not ging to pickup the unichip grab the afc. You defanitly need some sort of ems with these cars.

I did this. I am polishing it up and smoothing out the surface a bit. I am gonna have a friend powdercoat it to match the metallic silver that my FMIC piping was done. The only problem I am running into is the EGR setup is a bit different. The MSP egr will come up a couple inches short. I am trying to get a part number on the one I need. I am thinking it is from a 626 also. Just not sure.(dunno) Anybody got an idea of what I need???????
