Ban on SUV's...

Not that I think that this should happen here, but I sure do hate those Ford Roadblocks.

"PARIS - Bulky sport utility vehicles might be banned from clogging up the streets of Paris after a top official in the capitals left-wing government described them as a polluting caricature of a car unsuited to city life."

See the story here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5173494/?GT1=3584

good, i am so sick of ******* sport utilities. And they dont get taxed in oregon and some other states, just becuase they say they are trucks. The thing that bothers me the most is when i see these moms driving these monster cars, i just laugh, and half of them only have one kid.

Don't get me wrong, I would more than welcome a ban on SUV's. I just don't like the taking away of freedom's thing. But gas would be significantly cheaper, and the roads infinately safer if they would all just disappear.

the only reason why you have an SUV should be to put duece dubs on it and throw it into a car show... but for picking up your kid from school im pretty sure a mid sized car would be just fine

Actually seeing an SUV with big honkin' wheels is worse to me than a stock one. They spent a butt-load of money on an "off-road" vehicle and bunch more to remove the intended function. If they are all dirty from mudding or towing a boat or something, then I have no problem whit them. It is the ones that are used to commute in that really irk me.

BTW my family is not exempt from the above. My dad has a 2003 Tahoe as his company "car". It bugs me.

I don't like SUV's, but what I don't like even more is a gov't with the power to do whatever the **** it wants. Now they say they are banning SUV's for our own good, what next? Nah, you can't go down that alley.

That is exactly my point. I hate SUV's, but I don't want them to start banning stuff like that. I would prefer it if people refused to buy them instead, but that's not going to happen.

What about gas-guzzling american boats? People s*** all over SUVs for their lack of economy, but a ton of people drive boats or sports cars which absolutely suck gas and have lots of mass.

What gets me is the fact that we are the country that invented and then perfected the minivan. Then all the soocer moms of the world choose to turn their back on that segment of the market for the ever increasing in size SUV simply because they are trendy. I just don't get it. The minivan is superior in almost every task that the majority of owners purchase SUVs for. They are easier to drive, park, have a more pleasant ride, better fuel economy, more interior capacity, etc, etc. As was stated before I have no problem with some one who purchases an SUV for their intended purpose, such as trailering or off-roading. That I will concede no minivan will ever do as well. It just irks me that many people purchase vehicles that actually make their daily commute more of a PIA simply because they think it is necessary to maintain their social standing with the neighbors. lol.

I wouldn't want to ban SUVs. They don't bother me, and it's just not right. Some people love their SUVs. How would you feel if someone tried to push to sport compacts?

This is what I am saying. I don't think it should happen, simply because it is taking away a freedom, and if it came to a vote, I would fight the ban. But I wouldn't miss the SUV's once they were gone...

Take freedom of having the right to choose a battling ram out of the equation for a minute: Most women and men making 100g's named Bif should NOT be driving something that can crush or run over anything smaller than a minivan. IF people want to drive them, they have the right.... the right to take a driving course on how to manuver, park, talk on a cell phone and be able to check that blind spot, prevent coffee spills, go the right way down a one way, etc. If you think about it... in this state, the bus drivers dont have to take a special course on how to drive your kids around.... all they need is a CDL. I've seen as many fender benders with school busses as I have with any other vehicle. And dont even get me started on the old Buicks or Olds driving around town. Those people should've taken special driving courses too. I think any vehicle over a certain length and height should have special driving schools before purchasing. You can still buy it.. but you'd have to PASS the course first.

Easy solution. Make SUVs only come with a manual transmission. The people that use them for what they are designed for get them in stick anyways.

For real. Mini-vans aren't bad at all and they serve their intended purpose quite well.
