B&M Replica help

2002 Protege5 !?STOCK?! T.T
So I've been searching all day and haven't been able to find what I want. I bought a used B&M replica off of another member and for some reason it doesn't look quite right. Not saying he sold me a bad part or anything I'm just saying I think I'm overlooking something.

1)The bushing carrier. Should this slide up and down on the bushing before I put it in the car? If not what else do I need to make it work.

2)Would anyone happen to have scans of the B&M install book? That would help a lot. Not so much to put the shifter in but to see how the B&M sits in there since it's different from stock.

Thanks all!

Hope this helps you guys understand.

why didn't you get a real one? I don't trust replicas of things with specialized parts...it's one thing to get an autoexe replica grill, but a replica short shifter? I don't see how it could work if the bushing carrier moves around like that...

Well it was 30 bucks out of my pocket and the guy that had it before me was satisfied. Didn't know it would be in this bad of shape.

Probably missing the E clip. There needs to be some kind of retainer to keep the bushing from sliding. Definitely should not slide like that.

I had a replica B&M for a while, and it did not slide like that. I replaced it when I found the real thing for cheap. But to tell you the truth, I couldn't tell the difference between the two shifters after the boot was on.

I guarantee the spring clip (or whatever that thing's called...) keeps that in place once it's in the shifter slot

After inspecting the inside of the housing i can see that there's supposed to be a spring clip underneath of the bushing inside the housing. But I do not have that on mine. Wish me luck trying to find one that will fit.

Take the shifter to NAPA, or any other parts store. They usually have an E clip kit with pretty much any size you will ever need. At least ,my local NAPA did.

An e-clip or a spring clip?
My shifter had an E clip that retained the pivot bearing to the shifter shaft. It was a B&M replica, but I don't know if it is the same as yours. Yours may have the e clip on the bottom of the pivot bearing, or one on both sides. The whole shifter assembly is held into the car with a spring clip.
