Whoever's in for a good laugh, turn up the brightness and pop some popcorn.
We'll I bought my first car a nice gold 2003.5 mazda protege DX 2l 103k miles. Its got some dents but the engine/transmission strong. The suspension is in need of some extreme love. Iv changed the passager cv, new spark plug, oil change, & air intake fitler. The driver side axle nut was a nightmare and still in progress. We rounded off the first one, attempted to cut it off with a torch with no cutting tip melted the nut to the axle. I paid a mechanic $150 to save by cutting behind the studs and slide the cv axle free of the knuckles. He takes and stick his torch and cuts all the way into the wheel bearing and turns my circle opening to a oval. Long story short a week without my car and he threw my replacement part yard knuckle with yet another cv stuck in my yard. I managed to clean it up and install it. But the cv's also bad even worse than the old one. So I took it to another shop were he had it for two days to call me to say he can't remove this nut. Also I had surface rust around the teeth and shaft of the cv so I used wd40 and a brillo pad to clean it up but the ring located almost at the end of the teeth was locked up, I managed to get it to freely spin b4 installing it. I pressed the new seal nicely like the other side but still seeing a small leak. I'm guessing due to the rub from shaft not being completely smooth. My last hope is a knuckle at a parts yard near were I live. Anyone ran into this problem and can help. Also suggestion on seafoam use on these cars would be nice, examples should I just do the gas treatment. Or intake manifold and brake booster also. I plan to remove the air intake and clean it up around the throttle body. Lastly 1a auto sells a affordable control arm, sway bar, & tie rod kit. I'm willing to test it has anyone eles? Alot of the joint dust covers are torn.
Thank for everyone's time, I'll try to get some photos of the car it's not near as nice as alot of them on this fourm but it's my first car and I'm pleased with it so far besides the headaces. Also had the caliper bolt come out on the drivers side on a back road, loadest noise to listen to for half a mile till I could pull over at a park. Got alot of dents and my rear tail light cover is busted I may try to snag that tomorrow aswell.
