Aux Input crappy?

This morning I finally hooked up my MP3 player to the aux input and the quality sucked outright. There was this sound of electrical interference, sort of like engine noise when you run an amp incorrectly. Well, the sound was still there as I drove. I'm using the same wires and equipment that I did in my brother's 2007 VW Rabbit, which worked beautifully. I guess the Aux input interface/port in Mazda must be inferior/cheap.

Oh well, I guess a trip to Radio Shack for a gold plated plug is in store for me. Anyone else having noise issues with their Aux input?

It will sound much better with the gold plated plug. Real cheap at the Shack. If your mp3s are poor quality it will still be there, but good quality mp3s with the gold plated plugs sound pretty damn good.

I hooked mine up a while ago and didn't have any problems. Good quality, but it wasn't the best due to the cheap wiring I got from my dad :P

I will be trying the H/K drive and play and installing it in.
Side note: Does installing the H/K according to the how-to thread void the warranty?

That...shouldn't happen Sailz. the AUX wasn't made to control your Ipod in any way. If it was shut off by itself, then it would be the Ipod itself, not the AUX system.

Hook it up with out the power charger.

If you connect it with the power supply cable it has all kind of sounds, but if you dont use it. It sounds a lot better.

I use my Sony Ericsson W810i cell phone to play MP3s and I must say that the quality is flawless. Even when taking phone calls over the AUX, very happy with it. No static what so ever.

I don't know how many times I have seen complaints about this. Like camry said, you need a ground loop isolator.

Difference is that I use all of the same wires and power cord in my brother's 2007 VW Rabbit and it is flawless! No interference or weird sounds!

When I try with my MS3, it sounds like crap. And no, I don't want a ground isolating loop, it shouldn't need one.

By the way, it's a TomTom910 navigation unit with built-in MP3 player.

20$$ i think you can get one for like 8$ at radio shack its about the size of a deck of cards iirc.... in reality your right it shouldn't... but you step on the gas and you will put smile on your face a lot faster in the mazda then the rabbit so they put money from one thing into others...

I agree...the MS3 does please in a lot of other ways that so few dollars can't change on a VW. Oh, radio shack might sell one, but I couldn't find one with the mini plugs I needed on both ends. I could have spliced it, but I didn't want to bother with it. A lot of places sell them with RCA jacks too...I didn't want that either. Finally, the one from Crutchfield is smaller than a deck of cards by quite a bit. It is only about maybe 2 inches square...if the size matters to you.

Doesn noise filter eliminate noise generated when 12v power adapter is used?

As nonopr wrote, I have annoying noise only when I use the power adapter.
When I use the battery on my Garmin GPS, sound is clear.
When I tried with the inverter and AC adapater, sound is good too.

For this noise peoblem, does group loop noise filter still work?

Thanks for help.

The only issue I have had with the Aux input was due to a crappy cable, swapped it with a higher quality cable and no issues, sounds fine to me. Love my Nano. :D

Gonna pick up a new cable from Radio Shack as soon as I pick up my car from the dealer. Damn that CEL! Only 660 miles, not even a month old yet!

I just hooked up my TomTom this morning to the rental, and it worked perfectly!! 2006 Chevy Impala! The car is boring as hell but I don't mind it. It's got a bench-like seat in the front row, reminds me of those old school cars. The seats reminded me of a big soft couch... I was about to fall alseep in it on the way to work! I hate mornings...

Only Time I Get Interference With My Ipod Is When Im Charging It And Listining At The Same Time
