Automatic Lock/Unlock

Hey, all, just got a P5 :D , and I noticed that the door locks don't automatically lock or unlock when you turn the car on/off. I'd like to modify the electronics to have it automatically lock the doors when I turn the car on, and unlock them when I turn it off. If anyone with electrical knowledge knows how to do this, or has any idea, I'd greatly appreciate it. Also, does anyone know where to get an electrical diagram (Schematic) of the whole car? Thanks.

umm, thats going to be a pain in the ass, you can just get the child locks and turn em on...

Easiest way I can think of off hand would be to get two pulse timer relays from any stereo shop. Wire them to the ignition circuit, having one set up using a positive trigger and the other a negative trigger. The positive trigger one can be used to send a pulsed positive signal to the door lock control wire to lock the doors and the negative trigger one can be used to send a positive pulsed signal for unlock. You'll need a resistor for one of them, don't remember which but it should be in the alarm sticky at the top of this section.

Other choice would be to get an aftermarket remote coor lock system like the DEI Rattler100D which will give you remote door locks and ignition locking. Both will be the same basic wiring but the remote locks will actually be easier to find and install.

Thanks for all the help everyone, I didn't know that most aftermarket security systems had that built in. I was planning on getting one soon anyways, because I only have the remote locks, not the alarm, so I'll just make sure I get one with that feature.

Why would you want to be locked in your car???

Oh jeez, here we go again

Maybe some people don't want to run the risk of a carjacker just opening their door, or they just don't want to have to worry about pressing a button every time they get in the car.

Personally, I'd have to say about 90% of my customers would request the automatic lock/unlock feature to be enabled when I used to install aftermarket alarm systems.

98% of Japanese cars automatically lock once you're rolling at like 5mph...is this a feature of any security system?
