Autocross Wet Tires for MSP in DS

I'm currently running 225/40-17 A6s on dry. I would need a good set of wet tires that could keep the MSP competitive under light rain condition.

Any ideas other than Hoosier Wet tires ?

The problem is 225/40-17 size. The only two tires I found in that size are the Hooser's and the Nitto 555. I know nothing about the second tire except it actually has tread.

For the size, anything that fit a 17X7 rim and does'nt rub is what i'm looking for. I know some racers are running 225/45-17 with a little inner fender rubbing. I think it is also acceptable. Any idea for this size ?

If they fit, I'd probably try the Ecsta V700. TireRack has them on a close out sale for $79, see the link. A few years ago, I had heard that the road racers liked them in the rain. I have no relation with the Tire Rack other than buying a bunch of tires from since 1986.

Another thing you could try is one of the new extreme performance tires. Most them come in the 225/45-17 size and some also come in the 215/45-17 if the 225 is too large. Something like one of these:

I am actually running the 215/45-17 Kumho MX on my MSP in our indexed street tire class. I can't say much about how they are in the rain. They do ok in the little rain I have driven them here in southern Arizona. No real drama but I can't say.

I would suggest to try the Extreme Performance tires too like the Falken RT-615 or Bridgestone RE-01R. Compare my times (#381 STX) to your times from our last autoslalom in St-Eustache. I ran the Falkens in 225/45-17.
They also are a nice street tire.

The V700's always were good to me, but really there needs to be standing water to make them better than the A6. I've driven my A6's in the rain against a guy on Kumho V710's at a Divisional, and the time difference was the same on Saturday (Dry), and Sunday (wet). On the wet day, those with Hoosier Wet's owned all, with the exception to the STU subaru's that were on Bridgestone RE01R's.
Light rain sucks, because the treaded "Street Tires" like Bridgestones, probably aren't any faster than the R Comps- it would certainly be interesting for someone to test back to back. When you get standing water is where it makes a difference, and at that point you want to be on the Hoosier wets. That said, the best intermediate tire options are probably the V700, or the Bridgestone.
