so yeah, I knew our cars handled well, but I wasnt sure as to how good it actually did, seeing as how Im not going to go balls to the wall on corners down a street or where ever.. so my friend finally got me to go to the local (houston) auto X.. there were a total of about 300 cars...

so I was in the third heat, it started at about 9 pm,, DARK!!!!! wtf? anyway, so its my turn, I head out there, MY LORD!!!! everything I threw at my car, it took with ease.. I had no idea it handled so well.. and to my surprise, the potenzas gripped very well. I never slid or anything, they just whine like a b****...

so now I see what everyone is raving about... oh and btw, I won my class too.. STD. first time out, and I took home a trophy.. woo woo.. one more for the good guys (mazda)

way to go! I went to my first autocross a few months ago (as a spec) and I knew the MSP would kick ass!

yeah, there are a few areas of the msp that can be improved.. seats.. our seats suck ass.. also braking.. there were a few turns that were on the bottem of a hill, so I was turning hard and braking, and my pedal was crunchy and hard to push in. Is that ABS? b/c it sux ass, it makes it really hard to press the brakes..

SuperSpud,
Ive been looking for AutoX events here locally but no luck. I could of sworn a couple months ago they had something at San Antonio Raceway, but are these Autox events in H-town a common thing? I wouldnt mind going up there for that. Im ok with running the 1/4 but Im more of a autox driving type.

Ljspeed- yeah, they have one everymonth. Houston has a VERY big scca chapter. like I said, there were prolly 300+ ppl racing last night... the next event is august 31st and will be held (as always) at Gulf Greyhound Park

the houston site is www.houscca.com

yup, scca... houston has so many cars competeing it has many many many different classes.. I dont know what exactly it is, being that last night was my first time.. I'll have to ask my friend..

scrapin- because the houston region has so many cars that would be in STS or STX, they've made Street Touring classes A, B, C, D, E, F and U, which is stands for unlimited(basiclly STX).

they made broke up the classes because as spud said, the attendence is very large, and its runs much smoother. they had to cap non-member entries to 30 a heat because attendence was hitting over 300 and minimizing your amount of runs.

for the first time out, spud did very well when he stayed on course :p night driving is much harder than daytime, but it's also much more fun.

Ljspeed- I highly reccomend you head to houston for an event, they're highly addicting.

cool. thanks. Yeah when I finally get mine, I thought that the MSP would be in STS or STX. THanks again. (STaying on course is probably the hardest thing so don't worry we all do it )

Thats kinda gay. I love STS & STX cause you usally have 30+ drivers to compete against. The splitting up of those classes ruins it. But whatever

most ST classes have around a dozen ppl, depending on when ppl run in the day. the competition is really tight.

Thanks guys and everything sounds good :) Ive been on that SCCA site before but there are so many links to it and Ive been too lazy to go through everything. Ill try to head out for the 8/31 date but the semester is gonna be in by that time... so we'll see.

my area sts is very steep competition. they usually have PAX FTD all the time. so i want to go to SM or something else. Hope the MSP will get me competitive there
