I have a 2003 MP5, automatic w/sport shifter that was Dyno tested today at Injen's headquarters. I'm sad to say I was very dissappointed in the results.
2003 Auto 2.0 is rated at 130 hp and the actual Hp to the wheels is only 95.1. I don't recall the manufactures Torque rating but on the dyno today it was only 107.6.
After the R&D guy(who is now my new best friend) installed the CAI which by the way is awesome looking alone the Dyno test came back as follows:
Hp 100.2, max torque 111.6.
Now, he had his Dyno test for a 2002 5 spd and it's baseline was about 102 or so. I can't quit remember but I do remember it being about 12 Hp more than the automatic. The test after he installed the CAI on it was about 115 to 119, right around there somewhere.
So, I saw the proof today of about how much more power a 5 spd has and when you're talking a difference of 12 hp I think that's a big differenc.
The cool thing...I got a red Injen CAI out of the deal and more testing on my car in the future. The R&D guy will be visiting this site soon when he gets time and put in his two cents on future stuff for our cars and let me tell you, AWESOME!!
Anyway, I like my car so much I would never trade it now for anything else, even it is an automatice (w/sport).
I can tell you this. if you're into drag, the auto w/sport is the way to go.
