[Here's the monthly sales report I've been doing, it just adds the historical monthly sales from 2007 to 2010]

North America Mazda released their August 2010 US sales data.

In June 2010 1,146 Mazda5s were sold, down from 40.3% from August 2009. August 2009 was the final month of the Cash for Clunkers program.

For comparison 9,063 Mazda3s were sold in August.

Here's the data I have gathered from 2007 to the present.

Wow, I hope these sales don't cause it to be discontinued here like the Rondo was. Maybe they'll pick up the KIA sales. Do does Mazda even advertise the 5 on tv? I don't recall ever seeing a commercial.

Let's hope that people are just waiting for the next model to come soon...
1146 is pretty low for any month.

I'm not convinced that this vehicle type is catching on in the US. With the departure of the Rondo and barely over 1000 sales in August it's not looking that great. Both vehicles got very good reviews. The Mazda was even the TOP PICK from Consumer Reports. You may disagree with CU but you cannot deny they usually move the needle for any model with either a good review of bad review. But it seems like even that can't do anything for the Mazda5 in the US.

All sales were horrible. Car sales were the lowest in 28 years. Mazda isn't going to start killing models unless the trend is sustained.

People are saving instead of spending. It's a mixed bag with good and bad results. One thing that can be said is that car companies are going to keep making cars and eventually people are going to be buying them like they're going out of style. This process is going to improve quality, focus the car makers on what people want, and in the end benefit consumers by weeding out crappy cars and the idiots who buy them.

I know of one sale in Sept. I am just waiting on the insurance to pay for the totaled Saturn. Hopefully I will take delivery of a 2010 Sport. Can't afford a Touring. :(
