Audio not working after fiddling with Diagnostic Mode

Hi,

I have just got my new 2009 CX-9 GT and found some info on Diagnostic modes (pushing Audio Power and Audio) here on the forum.... so I gave it a try. Everything worked fine, I found some info on software version etc., until I got to the "CDCU Panel Setting" (menu item 84), where I clicked on Aux2... and the radio (and all other audio) stopped working.
When I turn ignition to ACC, LCD says "Audio Off", when I push "Source" I can see AM, FM, DISC, SAT, BT (that's OK, they were available before), but also AUX2 enabled (even though I don't have anything connected). Whatever source I select it won't play. If I turn volume to the right, it changes between 1 and 2, if I turn it to the left it goes to 0. In radio (AM and FM) I can not tune anything, can not change pre-tuned channels (buttons on LCD seem to be active, but just don't react), CD doesn't show any tracks (tried Audio CD and MP3 CD).
Anybody knows of a way to reset the unit? Please. It scares the hell out of me that I've foobared my new car. Thanks.

So with the help from Ceric I have decided the only option right now is to disconnect and reconnect the battery. And while it helped to regain the audio (I can control it from steering wheel), now the Navi screen is defunct, stating "A program cannot be read. Please consult to a dealer", and all of the buttons around the LCD do nothing.

This is why they don't advertise the diagnostics procedures. I accidently discovered the instrument cluster test mode and it scared the PI$$ out of me. Fortunately I just kept pushing the same button and it took me out without any problems.

Did you try going back to 'CDCU Panel Settings' and changing it back? You can't make it any worse.

In fact, I tried the test mode (posted by OMF a while back with a spreadsheet). I enter all codes listed on that document. With my 2008, nothing went wrong.
However, code=83 did nothing on mine. But, on BigBob's 2009, it went into a page that 08 does not have. When he pressed the AUX2 button, things started to go wrong (see post #1).
I suggested him to disconnect the (-) terminal of battery. That got the audio back, but the NAVI is still MIA.

Yipeee,

After disconnecting the battery, all I needed to do to get rid of

"A program cannot be read. Please consult to a dealer"

message was to insert "System" DVD (which I didn't know I have), it loaded the system and then I could insert map DVD and everything's sweet!!!

Congrats!
Now you are back to where you started. Quite an adventure!
I think in US model, we don't get the "system DVD". My guess is that the US DVD disc already contain the program and map. Since you are probably using maps for Europe and Mazda does not sell CX9 in Europe, the system DVD probably contain the "program", which needs to be loaded in first. Then, you pop in the map DVD disc. Sounds right?

That means, BigBob, every time you disconnect the battery in the future, you will need to do the two steps again.
