ATP Front Mount Intercooler....

This was the most work i have ever had to do to install any FMIC.....granted all my other cars had side mounts and may have been easier to route the piping this kit was ridiculous.....first of all they sent me the wrong BOV flange i got a flange for a HKS SSQV when i should've got a stock flange.....i had to pay 60 bucks to get the right flange welded on (i choose to do that rather than waiting for the right pipe).....the kit came w/ absolutely no instructions....NONE....i got the larger 600 HP core so i knew cutting would be involved wasn't worried about that.....there had to be major modifications to make this work.....the pipe coming off the throttle body interferes w/ your shifter lever....you have to turn the shifter weight backwards and even then you can't get into first, third or fifth gear....so i had to heat up the pipe and bend it about an inch to get some clearance there....the plastic under the hood has to be cut and the rubber has to be removed....And the cp-e CAI will not work w/ the ATP front mount.....i tried every possible way to make this work but to no avail....i ended up cutting the maf sensor of the cp-e intake and connecting one side to the cpe filter and the other to the stock hose that connects to the airbox or whatever....pretty much a homemade intake.....enough talking here go pics.....

I almost forgot to put the good things about this kit....there is plenty of space for the intercooler after you cut your reinforcement bar......no trimming of the actual bumper skin is neccessary....the car did feel a lot quicker once i was done w/ it....i hold a little more boost as well....instead of 1.1 bar i am now at 1.3 bar until about 6k rpms.....so that's about 19 psi.....ummm i'm happy w/ the final product i guess

Sounds like its not a install for the weak at heart! I think if i were to get a front mount I would have to go with a more user friendly kit. It looks good.

lol yea it's def not for the weak at heart but i had fun w/ my boy installing it and atp customer service is good can't talk to them on the phone but they r good....

i am in the process of the install and yeah nothing fits right i mean all the pipes had to come on and off about 10 times trying different things. so i need to remove the counter weight off the shifter linkage? or even then it still hits? try installing this and the 3" inlet part its real fun lol are yours 2 pipes resting against each other? what about the cooler lines by the core i had to grind off a portion of the bracket it was jabbing the pipe.

do u have tbe ? r u getting fuel cut ? tune your standback ?

mine is getting install next week....along with a tune....too bad no fuel pump upgrade with all this....=(

what you should do w/ the cooler lines is take it off the bottom bracket and move it up to the top bracket there's a hole above the bottom one u gotta do it on both sides and that will somewhat fix that problem.....the two pipes will touch each other....i turned my counterweight backwards and that worked 4 me w/ a lil pipe banging also you will be able to get in all gears....GL w/ the install ron tonkin.....and yea i been gettin fuel cut w/ just my standback and cold air....i dont have a tbe yet it will be here later this week (cpe)....no tune on my standback yet either i'm doing that hopefully next week.....

i am happy i am at 17psi and hitting 10.5-11.5 afr's no cut just insane power!!!! the fmic kit was decent but i hate not being able to really use the splash shield

that's cool i have no clue what my afr's are but i'm gonna get tuned next week so i should know......i'm happy w/ the FMIC too except all the work*......but the car feels real good spins right through second and sometimes into third......i can't wait to get my TBE later on this week or early next week from Cpe.....oh where did you get your cobb intake from everyone i know of is backordered....i need one bad now i hate this homemade intake i concocted 2 get to work lol....

i got it from SU but you should be able to get it from anyone last i heard.

yea that's the ? is that turbo inlet worth 275 because if it is i may get that along w/ the cobb sri......

.....but the car feels real good spins right through second and sometimes into third.....QUOTE]

My MS3 does that now with a MS CAI and MS CBE. Why is that a big deal after installing this FMIC? I think most ppl here with mods spin through 2nd and sometimes in third. Is this FMIC really a gain?

chillin bro just trying to get on your level lol why did you go atp and not corksport or turbo xs?

because i was under the impression that i could keep my cai.....lol.....which i couldn't so now i'm pissed but i do feel the power increase i ordered the cobb sri cuz i can't run a cai nemore and i got the atp inlet pipe....

cant go wrong with cobb...thats what i have and i am waiting on cobb to release their fmic.
