It's not necessary, but if you're using them for performance and not looks, it's definately a big plus. Most speed shops (like GTE) have the scales there. As it's time intensive, it's generally not cheap.

I will most likely get this done as I really want to do a couple autocross events this year. It is one of those things I have always wanted to do but never find the time but I really am going to make time this year!

cool deal! Let us know when you plan on coming out! Where in GA are you located? There are a few regions in GA, so some may be closer than others...

I live in Dawsonville but I spend most my time in Duluth (work). I am new to the autocross scene but have been wanting to do it for a long time. I thought this would be a good time to get into it since I am looking for a new hobby due to a motorcycle wreck last year and my wife wants me to stay off of street bikes for a while. I am parting out my bike on ebay and using the $$$ to start setting up the car for autocross. I would like to hook up with some of you guys that have been doing it for a while to get some pointers.

Where in Duluth you work? I work off right off of sugarloaf parkway, and live on pleasant hill.

EDIT just checked a map. That's a bit of a commute!

I work in river green office park right beside the soccer fields (off p'tree between pleasant hill and abotts bridge).

It is 32 miles (1/2 hwy / 1/2 back roads) but it really does not bother me as it gives me time to wind down from work and there usually is hardly any traffic.

I work in the office right next to the soccer field (MitecNet). I always park in the back of the office so I can sneak out whenever I feel like it! :D

Heres a pic taken from our security cam of my P5:
