if youre driving anywhere near kelly elliott, pleasant ridge, or hte service roads of I-20 near it, be very careful, there are tons of speed traps in the area all of a sudden. leaving martin at lunch, i was waved into a sidestreet with a bunch of other people for 32 in a school zone (20), dumbass cops just trying to get money, what assholes.

12 MPH over the limit in a SCHOOL ZONE....hmmmm don't sound like a$$holes to me....sound to me like an officer doing a job I would prefer I see him do....keeping our children safe. I have NO problem with that at all. Sorry if you got a ticket....but there will come a day in your life when you will see it the same way.

Not to rag on you more...but you also say it's at lunchtime when there's more kids than ever around...I gotta say that maybe next time just slow down in an area like that as kids can sometimes just pop outta nowhere and that 12 miles can be the difference in stopping in time.

welp. the point is its a high school, and there are no kids walking around on the streets at lunch, hell, you cant even leave the building unless youre in a car.

Have to agree with sir nuke on this one. Sorry but I was just in a drivers safety class for a seriously stupid ticket. Illegal left hand turn. He pulled 3 of us at the same time. Tons of people take this turn as a shortcut and since the people in front of me went and I see people all the time turn I went as well. Stupid on my part I know. Well as soon as I turned wham here is your ticket. thanks officer. officer says hey at least I didn't cite you for failure to use a turn signal like the other 2 people. He laughed and said you made an illegal turn but used your turn signal ....go figure. i told him that proves that I am just a safe driver. Anyway in the class there were people with 5mph over the limit in school zones. The cop said that speeding is not tolerated at all in school zones. IMHO with good reason. Try and take the class like I did and it will never go on your record and then next time SLOW DOWN!!!!.

No flame intended but how old are you. Kinda sounded like you were leaving the school in your post????

well to tell you the truth...OUR school district doesn't have their heads up their butts that far....the only times the school zones are in effect is for a few hours in the morning to get the kids IN school...then for a two hour period in the after noon to get them out...

now..as far as the zone you were refering to being near a highschool....that really doesn't make any difference....I HAVE teenagers....and I honestly believe they are more brain dead and not paying attention more than the little ones are.

I WAS a teenager but a few years back and can tell you that there were MANY times where we all were braindead...offroading in my Geo Prizm comes to mind.

Back to reality here though, the law is the law. Most areas I've been to state pretty clearly on the sign to not speed in that type of area, regardless of time of day. Speeding through school zones, hospital zones, etc...you're not only asking for a ticket, but risking that it might be that "one time" where a child or emergency vehicle would be out even when you least expect it.

i think we clearly have expressed how we feel about that issue...but yeah, lately i've been seeing a lot of speed traps. this one time i was playing basketball just at a park, and for about two hours, one after another after another, people were getting pulled over for speeding...my point is, if you want to risk a ticket, or hitting someone, or even worse a kid, and if you want to pay the ticket, or suffer the mental anguish from an accident, its your life. Who cares if you're doing 20 mph, people can't check you OR your car out if you're going too fast!!!

im gonna fight this s***, the people in the car said my speedo never went over 30, i may have been over 20, but not over 30, and hell if im gonna pay that much.

yeah, but if you study this chart, you can easily tell it will cost me quite a bit less money if i can prove i wasnt going that fast. i found a loophole too, if the officer that issued the ticket doesnt show up that day in court, i get off without paying anything but court costs, and i dont see how he can be there for every one he pulled over those 3 days they ran the trap.

fyi: I don't belive you can take deffensive driving for speeding in a school zone either. you get to pay it and it goes to your insurance

your friends' work < officer's word

maybe this will teach you not to be speeding, but you and everyone here knows it won't.

Ok, I seriously doubt that the "people" in your car were watching the speedometer. I bet they were bobbing their heads to nelly or something of the like. And, who do you think the judge will believe...anyone over you and your buddies, trust me. Besides, the cop will be there, as the court date is the same for all those tickets they gave that day and in most states it doesn't dismiss the ticket even if he doesnt show up. It's been used too many times and states have changed the law. Honestly, see if you can take a defensive driving course and learn to slow down in the school zones.

suburbs i cant believe YOU are trying to give ME advice 2 years later(upyours)

update cockmaster: i fought it in court and they couldnt come up with laser calibration records so they threw it out

I was going to reply to this and make some smart ass coment like,
"good thing you weren't going 8mph faster, as doubling the posted speed limit can land ya in jail in TX(wreckless endangerment)"

then I saw that this was 26 months old.

WTF???

Does someone have a grudge against you or something stealth??
