Are YOUR sunvisors coming up short?

The few days I get to actually DRIVE the 5, I've noticed on my run to work and back (South in the morn, North in the eve) that the sun is ALWAYS beating into the driver's side window at the side of head and blinding me out of the corner of me eye....
The visors are just TOO SHORT. For the doors being as LONG as they are, the visors should have slide-out extensions. Like, say, the CX-7!
I took some quick measurements, and they are the same length, color, and the mounts are IDENTICAL. Neither come lighted so there's no electrical to work out, and they're CHEAP! Well, for me they are. :) Interestingly enough, the passenger's is more, almost $80, but the driver's side retails at $52.30.

Might buy one for the driver's side.... hafta talk the wife into it, but if I do I'll let y'all know how it goes!

They are tiny and made cheaply. I find it best to duct tape a piece of card board to it to make it bigger. The ladies seam to love the new style. It has managed to get me new job oppurtunities and wealth...just kidding. Its a janky design unfortunately. They also cut corners in the as1 shadeband design on the windshield by using a dot matrix frit design instead of a proper vinyl shadeband. The sun can beam through the holes and still blind you. All at a cost savings of 2 dollars.

Sunvisors

You're 100% right about those rinky-dinky sunvisors. They belong in a Mini.
I used a piece of construction paper cut to the same size as the visor that I slid in the plastic loop on the backside of the visor. When I need the extra length I simply slide the construction paper across. It works for me. I even got my daughter to decorate it with flowers and other things....A one of a kind original.
I'll post some pics to give you guys some laughs.
Anthony.

lol i was joking about the cardboard, but i wanna see it!

(ughdance) I tinted my windows don't even use the visor on the drivers side window nor the passenger.....

I noticed the same problem on the 3.... the damn thing doesn't fill the gap well enough between the mirror! never had this problem with my protege

Window Visors

Unfortunately here in Calgary AB we aren't allowed to tint our front windows; not even with the lightest grade of tint. Kinda sucks, but that's why I got all creative and made my home-made solution....I'll post the pics soon.

Benfolio, you've got to let us know how it works out becuase these short plastic-covered visors are horrible. My 1990 Cavalier had better visors. They are definitely out of place in the 5's cabin.

Oh and by the way, my windows were tinted at the dealership (no idea what %, but they are fairly dark) and this offers no substantial help with sun blockage when driving.

Not allowed to tint front windows here - but I bought a strip of tint to add across the top of the windshield - after being blinded on a long drive recently. The sun position was right between the visors - had me cursing the whole way - and I was already wearing sun glasses to no avail. I don't know how much the extra tinting will help - but at least it's something.

Yes... besides the lack of a door side arm rest for the middle row seating, I'd have to say the sunvisors are a disappointment.

My '95 Chevy S-10 had much better standard visors. Lighted, slide out extension, AND a mini flip down in the front when you swing the main visor over to the side. The only downside was that they were covered with that foamy/cushy material that totally deteriorates after 10 years...

Seriously... couldn't Mazda do a better sun visor GM?

Did you go ahead with the switch? I looked at them today and while I didn't have a measuring tape with me I guessed the CX-7 Sunvisor was about 4" longer. And it was mostly from the mounting point to the left - my impression was that the CX-7 visor would hit the roof liner on the 5.

Just wondering if you tried it?

The sunvisors, like the answer from Mazda about the tail lights, is on hold.... Had a little problem with getting one of the OCS sensor wires stuck in the seat track, had to order a whole $1400 seat adjuster assembly out of Canada to fix just one little wire.

Thank you warranty, but I don't want to press my luck with the visors. I might just order one next week though...
