APEXi SAFC

I've thought about getting one myself a number of times, the only deal i have with it is that I don't think there is a vehicle specific harness for the 3. So some splicing and such would have to happen, and I'm not big on electrical. I know quite a few people that have the SAFC II and have heard nothing but good things about it.

I wanted to get one of theses myself but the only thing is allot of people have told me that with our ecm it will not hold a tune. Our stock computer will eventually overide it, and you will keep have to re tune it.

yea, there's one that was able to tune a stock car with bigger injectors using the e-manage.

So, is a fuel tuner like one of these modules a useful component in the achievement of normally-aspirated power gains?

of course. it allows you to bypass the ECU and tune your A/F for the most power instead or running lean most of the time. I've also read that a standalone unit can bypass the 118mph fuel cut off as well.

the SAFC series and emanage were difficult if not all but impossible to make work properly on the protege and our experience with the 3 does not lead us to think that car will accept inputs from these types of units any better. as much as it costs, something like the microtech which we offer is capable of increasing horsepower between 10 and 20 on just the unit alone with a crappy base tune. you also cannot beat the flexibility of a true standalone.
