AP released

It was released a few days ago...... probably almost a week..

I think this thread title is going to piss a lot of people off...

Im over the AP.. they cant build a file to suit my mods and that holds true for about 90% of us. Reflash for the win!

Screw AP, get the Piasini reflash ;)

Link in this section somewhere "ECU Reflash on the way"

screw your reflash and sketchy posting, at least the ap will not require me to send my ecu to a sketchy vendor. You are not even telling consumers where gains are coming from and I would bet anything your reflash is going to end up ******* up peoples cars. If you want to sell something on this forum do it properly instead of bashing other products and advertising yours. Furthermore the dealer will not be able to flash the ecu after your reflash so you can kiss your waranty goodbye. (fuoops)

what facts, you guys aren't providing any not even a price and that is why this thread and others that have popped up are sketchy. You are planning on flashing your car with a european spec tune, since the company is in italy and I have not seen any data on what the flash is doing to give 40hp. Is the timing advanced, is boost increased, is the a/f ratio leaned out. I don't know what you have invested in this nypest, maybe just your ecu, but you are pretty involved with what is going on here and its sketchy. This mod is detectable by the dealer and will void waranties. You also will not be able to have your ecu updated by mazda once its reflashed. I just don't see why anyone would do this when the accessport is so close to being released. Sure the skeptics will say when is it going to happen, but those who are patient will reap the rewards of usable safe hp.

Well you might have some of your facts mixed up about "detectable by the dealer" "and will void waranties" just like you think im "sketchy" for getting the word out to ppl that there is another option. I have NO affilation to the company and only have MY MONEY and MY ECU involved.

I have posted all the info i know ,and where to find the rest. I am quite certain that people can make up there own mind if this is something they want to do by reading and asking questions.... You can say that tread is worthless all you want..

how is it not detectable by the dealer, its been reflashed that is detectable by the dealer even if they copy your vin into the data like you have posted. Any tech would notice 40 extra ponies when he drives your car into the shop. They might not look for it but if you come in for waranty work you can be sure they will check for a reflash if its engine related. I think a reflash would constitute a void of your waranty. If you don't care about your waranty then thats your decision, but don't go telling people on this forum that this is undectable. The vendor you are working with is sketchy and thats all there is too it. New products are great for the market but this isn't being done properly. For one your vendor is not even a sponser and he is peddling his product through you and by bashing competitors products by saying "screw ap get the piasini flash". Sure, I will fork over an unknown amount of money to void my waranty and possibly destroy my engine because some sketchy vendor who has dicked people out of money many times before says screw cobb a reputable tuning company. This guy is probably just some asshole with the flash equipment and no tuning knowledge. Not the type of person I want to put my ecu in the hands of. Like you say everyone can make there own decisions but I have the right to express my opinion as well. All I am saying is something about this is not right.

Ok Junior, this flash is most likely less detectable than a Cobb flash. Why? This is a genuine mazda firmware thats modified.

The flash comes from Piasini Engineering in Italy. The guys is Australia have been using this flash for awhile with nothing but rave reviews. Piasini flashes Bentley's and all type of high end cars.

If you dont think the COBB AP is going to void your warranty, think again. The second you reupload your stock ecu flash back in the unit to take it to the dealer, its going to show the flash date. So, please do your research before spewing bs about something, you have no idea about.

BTW, i think youre going to need more " mods " before using your AP. Being stock is like riding a big wheel. Its fun and cool until your friends see you.

Any cobb protuner will be able to build you a custom map when (if) the MS3 accessport is finally released.

Nobody should expect them to build and include dozens of maps with the unit. They are gonna have a map for stock and then a stage 2 maps for TBE and their intake, most likely. Those are the configurations on all of their other accessport applications.

A send-away reflash is essentially the same thing as the AccessPORT and will be just as detectable by the dealer. Both simply remap the stock software on the ECU. The negative is that the reflash is most likely only tuned for a stock MS3, meaning if you have any other modifications, the tune will not be taking advantage of them.

Another negative to the send-away is the fact that with the AP you can unmarry it and re-sell it at any time for probably 80% of what you paid for it. With a send-away reflash its flashed and thats it..

If any old-school WRX owners remember the guys at Cobb started off doing ECU reflashes before they developed the AP-- you used to have to send your ECU to UTAH for a week for a reflash that cost around $300.00 a pop. It was called the Cobb AccessECU reflash.
