Ap issue "unable to communicate"

I bought a used AP from a guy who uninstalled it from his totaled ms3. The AP is not letting me marry it to my car, it says unable to communicate with car and check to make sure key is off and cord is plugged in. Am I missing a step? I was able to load the map I want onto my ap but is doesn't like my car.

Hmm, I guess if it was never unmarried it would just say that it was still married, so I dont think that's your problem. I could be completely wrong, but on Cobb's website there are seperate maps for the California models, so maybe that's why? But then again, I don't own an AP so it's just a guess.

I had the same problem earlier this month. Your AP is still installed with the seller's ecu. Hopefully you can get him to uninstall it. If not, you will not be able to flash your ecu.
I was lucky, the guy lives locally and we were able to fix the problem in 30 mins.

No, its uninstalled. The problem was I didn't have the key advancedm all the way forward, the AP said to make sure it was in the off pos. so thats what I did. My car flashed fine with the key all the way on/car turned off.
