I've always wondered what was the law in these situations... I even asked a cop once as to who had the right of way and he couldn't give me a definitive answer either. It has been my personal experience though that when I'm the left turner I can safely (and I mean, safely, I don't take stupid risks and try to intentionally cut people off) make the turn before the person turning right because a) I'm going almost at speed and making a wider arc and therefore can take the turn faster and b) the righty is slowing to make a sharper turn thereby going slower allowing me time to make the turn. Again, I'm not looking to cut people off, I only do it if I know it is safe. Does anyone know who actually has right of way in this situation?
Oh, and to 3.5titanuimSD: While I may agree you shouldn't have gotten flamed as bad as you did you have to realize you're talking to literally thousands of people here. When you post and by throwing out "******" and "you're so gay" ya may just offend a couple people. So don't be surprised when people light your ass afire for it. YOU were owned, get over it, don't ever write all in caps because that annoys the **** out of everyone, and I hope you can become a worthwile addition to the group.
