I'm also on 17s all winter, running 215/50/17 Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3 on the 2008 Mazda 3 GT wheel (snowflake).

17x8.5 with 245/40/17 Star Specs.

Rota DPT 17x9+42mm, 245/40/17 Z1 Star Specs. Rolled and pulled in the back, still rubs on hard slams, like potholes. Stock ride height, for now. Pending a bid ol' suspension purchase.

My winter set up, MB Gear, 17 x 7, 205/50/17's.

I put 17's on mine just because of the damn PA potholes. Haven't had a pinch flat since. My wheels aren't anything flashy though. Just generic 17x7's. I put good tires on them now and they handle the same as stock, and the car still gets just as many compliments as with the stock wheels.

I'd post some, but I swapped the car to 16" wheels so I could run less expensive + higher mileage + LRR tires, my wife is the only one driving this car now that I got the supra.

Still looks good with the 16's on there though (sport edition F2's), she gets compliments all the time.
