I can not get my MP3 through an emissions test because the tires are to low profile (205/40/17). They (in colorado) are telling me that the tires are to low of profile, so if they put the car on the strap (whatever that means) it will bounce back and forth on the stand an F up the wheels. Anyone ever heard of this, it sounds kind of odd, but at the same time I don't want to mess up my rims even though they are F'ed up all ready.

If they are giving you a hard time about your tires which to me sounds like a bunch of BS ask them to do the test without putting the car on the rollers, just an idle test. They have to do that for AWD cars anyways.

We go through the same test here in NYC and I have had no problems with it. I think they are a bunch of knuckle heads and you should take ur car to a different shop.

I will try taking it to another place. I just figured the people at the emissions place would know their head from their ass.

thats freakin rediculous. here in texas we have the idle test but we used to have to do it on rollers. if you have what we used to have then its basically the same damn thing as taking your car to a dyno. and ive seen plenty of protges with lower profiles than yours run fine on a dyno.

Here in Georgia if your car is OBDII they just plug in and see if you have a check engine light, check your gas cap, and I think do a sniffer on the exhaust.

Tell them to go pound sand and go somewhere else.

There's no sniffer test on our cars in GA..
