initial impressions are very favorable. i test drove lots of compact suvs/crossovers/wagons. it's boxy looks are somewhat polarizing, but i really think it's sharp. the GLK is built like a tank. extremely smooth, quiet and comfortable. sound deadening is fantastic. it's quick enough. handles well enough. controls are fairly ergonomic. but it's no honda odyssey- just two cup holders in the front (not conveniently placed). glove box barely big enough to fit owners manual. lacks the clever storage space tricks you find in many Japanese cars.

i think we'll be very happy with it...

Congrats! Don't know anything about either, but I prefer the looks of the GLK. Have you looked into the Forester?

well, we drove the tribeca and forester, and quite honestly the ride and interior are just not as nice as the MB or Volvo. we're no fans of SUV/crossovers, but right now all of our cars are manual transmissions. we need an automatic. three of our cars only have two doors, and two only have two seats. don't worry, i'm keeping the speed3. my wife's accord is going...

i like the glk personally.....will look at getting one whenever the wife and i decide to have a child.....

I've seen a few XC60 on the streets, and they're visually very striking. Look like nothing else on the road. They'd be on the top of my list. Sorry - haven't driven either one to comment on that.

XC60 has ranked higher in it's reviews. I believe Car and Driver also ranked it higher than the GLK.

I'd personally go with the Volvo.

thanks for the link. i've read that review before, and what they say about the merc's steering is a bit odd, because most other reviews speak highly of how the benz drove and handled.

the xc60 is very nice.fwiw the NA 3.2 v6 is a dog, imo.the much more expensive 3.0T6 is a much better drive..

I like the GLK a lot, and it's a Benz, so you know it's quality and will last, but same with the Volvo. I'd imagine the merc is a bit nicer, more sound deadening, higher quality...but it's all up to you, and your wallet

Our next purchase will be a FX35 when it comes time. I think its the best looking/sounding small SUV/CUV out there.

Not a fan of anything Mercedes though.. especially if you buy new. The resale value of the things are terrible.

nice! my wife would probably want that color also...her Sky is a dark grey.. i'm not sure if i'm fond of the light colored interior, i would definiteyl get all weather floor mats though. congrats on the purchase....if you don't mind, what was total drive out ?

mrsp was $438xx.00 (can't remember exact figure). i got it for $40,533. i have the 4Matic with premium one package, heated seats, lighting package, and ipod interface. probably could have haggled a bit more, but i just wanted to be done with shopping...
