So you're pretty much saying stay away from Mercedes? what about the Infinity JX35?

Absolutely not staying away from Mercedes. I was very specific about models to avoid (all derived from ML). I own a current C class and would easily recommend it as well as E class and GLK.

JX35 will easily outdo ML, GL and R class reliability.

Yes, they do make bigger SUV's with mediocre fuel efficiency combined with significantly lower levels or reliability and higher rates of depreciation.
