I know that Mazda might be trolling for people that do track days in MS3's but I was curious if anyone out there "knows anyone" that does them. If so can you have them PM me?

Thanks

Don't be too paranoid.

I've tracked my Speed3 several times on road courses in So.Cal and Nevada.

I've had several conversations with the Service Manager and Sales Manager at my local Mazda dealership about my avid tracking and how well the MS3 performs.

They have expressed zero concern about my hobby and how it may affect my warranty. The best evidence of this is the fact that my Thermostat has been replaced twice under warranty in the past two months. The last time I asked them to hussle up because I was heading for a track day the next day and they worked hard to make it happen so that I could make the track day.

It is obsurd to me to think that people know or have purchased cars from dealerships that are "voiding" warranty work. This is how dealerships make $$ and keep service techs employed. Simply take your car to another dealership. My dealership is the same as ZooZooms, they could care less.

As long as you're not racing, and not abusing the car at the track, I doubt most dealerships would have a problem with warrantying a tracked car.

However, if you're modding the car for the track, and/or bringing it in for service with bald tires, trashed brakes, a smoked clutch, etc... they'll probably chalk up broken stuff to "abuse" and not warranty it. Which, despite wishing, is actually pretty valid. It is possible to treat the car kindly at the track and still have a crap load of fun... Mazda shouldn't have to pay out of pocket for the people that are truly damaging their vehicles with poor racecraft.

My Mazda dealer knows my car is "lighted modded" with the Cobb SRI intake, aftermarket TMIC, upgraded suspension, aftermarket wheels/tires etc. We've had many conversations about where I got my parts from and they are genuinely interested to how they compare to the Mazdaspeed stuff.

And they've performed all my powertrain warranty work without question knowing my Speed3 is outfitted this way.

I wish more dealers were like this! Mine seems to be cool as well but I've been hearing a lot of horror stories from others.

Yeah, I agree. Its been a very relaxed and pleasant relationship.

The Sales Mgr. tracks a Miata and we've talked many times about various road courses around So.Cal.

I talk openly and frequently about tracking my Speed3 and never once have I seen any "body language" that worries me at all.

I have mentioned to them more than once that Mazda aggressively markets the fact that "on any given weekend in America, there are more Mazdas on the track than any other make." That's my way of saying that Mazda better be cool about it......if they want to promote it at the same time.

My dealer has no problem with me tracking my car 15 days a year. They ask about safety items like brake pads and track tires more than how hard the car is driven. Believe me, they can scan your cpu for whatever they want. But they should also realize that they sent you out the door with a car that was meant to have some fun with. Find a good dealer that supports racing, or that sells Maseraiti's and Ferrari's like mine does. They have bigger problems to deal with than some guy in a hatchback who goes to the track once in a while.

Damn good point!

Looks like mine will see the track at least once before I sell it. I'll be interested to see how it does compared to the RWD cars I usually drive.

Actually, I wasn't trying to start a thread on warrantees and such .. just some talk about tracking the cars .. where they are strong, weak, how much brakes do you use up in a weekend, synthetic oils, etc. Sorry to throw you guys off ..
