Anyone interested in an exhaust like this?

just for reference...

stock vs. aftermarket (not sure which one)

Well...

I'm interested, but it depends on the price. Also, the sound is important to me, I don't want my car to sound like a ricer.

It will work with the Protosport DP right?

LOL!! It's hard to teach an old dog new tricks. I have a hard enough time getting over to the "performance" section to see what's going on over there.

Yeah, I'd like to get to a meet one of these days. With work, the holidays, and my g/f and kids, it's a bit hard to get away sometimes. I'd really like to check out your ride though, looks like it's pretty nice.

I will try to get some videos up tonight. It sounds very sweet. :)

But no, this will not work with the Protosport DP.

Damn, oh well, I'd still like to hear what it sounds like.

Thanks

Wow. Talk about timing.

But of course, I'm a bit confused -- and if I repeat anyone else's questions that were worded in a different form, my bad. I'm still learnin' over here.

So this is supposed to be a downpipe-back system, correct? It's supposed to hook to your stock downpipe and yay, good to go.

Now here is where I ask my stupid questions.

Our stock downpipe has two cats, does it not? .. I have yet to crawl around under my MSP and look -- frickin' snow won't STOP -- but I believe that's correct. And so, if this exhaust supposedly hooks right up to our stock downpipe -- which I'm assuming has the two cats, mm-hmm -- where the hell did the two cats go in those pictures of this exhaust?

Or do you have an aftermarket downpipe on your MSP, Insidious? And I missed that somewhere, maybe -- and that's why I'm not seeing the two cats?

And if it's 'recommended' that one buys an aftermarket downpipe for this exhaust -- because yes, those two cats are evil and eat power -- what available downpipes DO work with this exhaust?

.. So, yeah. The cats are a bit of a concern for me as I have to worry about passing frickin' emissions. Damn things.

And of course, like everyone else has been sayin' -- videos and sound clips and a price, please! :D

Maybe this will help. Stock exhaust is pictured on the bottom.

This exhaust system I have starts from the 2-bolt flange on the downpipe (seperate from the cat assembly).

thanks insidiousmsp that cleared up everything for me.....basically all thats left is that lil "dp" and the elbow to the turbo right? not bad if its priced right, im on board, although many places charge 600 for just a cat back so i may end up still gettin mine custom made, but post prices asap :) thanks again

Aha! It all makes sense now! :D

I'd definitely be interested in something like this -- depending on pricing and whatnot, though. Same story as most everyone else.

Thanks again for the clarification!

Edit: Is that the actual exhaust in that comparison image? And if so -- is that a single cat I see? That'd actually be a good thing is it was .. cause, yeah, like I said .. I have emissions t'worry about. :(

The only ? that hasn't been answered is where do we get an elbow that will mate up with the "extended cat-back" that you have?

How many times do we have to ask for the price???? LOL I mean... GEEZ!!! Let's go already!!! hit us with it so we can make a decision... looks freakin AWESOME!! but... as everyone else has said... depends on the price!

No, I'm not sure where that picture came from or what downpipe it is. The Billet Design system has no cats. Even if there were a high-flow cat, you wouldn't pass emissions.

It's actually a "downpipe-back" system. There are no cats. :) In the future, Billet Design may make a 3" downpipe that includes the s-shaped elbow.

As for the price, like I said, I posted this to gauge interest. Seems like there is some, so I will get back to you guys soon with a number.

OK, that works for me. Other than a price, I'd just like to see some under-the-car pictures of where the exhaust starts so I can better understand this downpipe-back.

Here's the best picture I have right now.

Couple of things I forgot to add. The exhaust will be full 304 stainless steel. Mine is mostly painted mild steel. The production exhaust will look much nicer. :) It also comes with a MIL eliminator (have had mine on for over 500 miles now, no CEL).

That pic helps a lot! Looks like the remaining elbow is a really small part.

Full 304 SS, v-band couplings, & included MIL...sounds good so far. :D
