I'm going to need all new tires in about another month & Was wondering if anyone here as used Tire Rack? There prices seem to undercut most places around here by $30 to $40 a tire. Also I haven't seen anything sayong how many miles said tires are good for.

Any advice would be great! (drinks)

Also is it possible to get them delivered to your house?

I don't know about TireRack.com, but I usually go to Tires Plus. They aren't much more expensive, and they give you free tire rotations for life (even if you only replaced 1 tire). There's one just outside of Columbia South Carolina in North Augusta, so that may be another option to consider.

I've been happy when I've used TireRack and the ratings refer to the mileage and use. Which tires are you looking at? Don't forget to factor in mounting/balancing costs.

Still looking & learning about tires so I'm taking my time I want to get it right.

The tires I've been looking at are the Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2. I'm staying with the stock size at least for the moment. My wife's cousin works for GM & I'm sure it would be no big deal, for him to get those put on at a discount I hope....I'm still not seeing anywhere where they lists mileage for the tires.

I'll check back later work calls.....(sad1)

Slavrenz, I'll check into that thanks!

I've used them and I like them, but the Discount Tire down the street from my house will price-match anyone on any tire (if they have them available). So basically you pay the same money and don't have to hassle with receiving tires and hauling them somewhere for installation.

I got my last set of tires from Tire Rack, the shipping was only 20$ I would definitely use them again. There's a big selection not to mention the price difference. I went to discount tire first and they did give me a price that matched tire rack but then I was going to have to pay some ridiculous amount to have them ordered and put on. I got 4 General Exclaim UHPs shipped from tire rack, then mounted and balanced at walmart for under 300$

If it's like every other shop that I've heard of doing this, they only match local quotes. Internet quotes are exempt :(

Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2= Ultra High Performance Summer tire
Are you looking at these for summer only tires? If not, then you will want to look at an all-season tire instead.

15" or 16" was standard on your car?

They are 15"s on my car. I know they are sumer tires but we don't get a lot of ice down here, so I thought they might be ok. Thinking about it now you might be right.

Tire Kingdom here wanted $366 with Tax & all for two Gdyr Eagle GT, maybe it's me but I thought it was a bit high.

I haven't bought tires at a 'brick-and-mortar' tire shop in 3 years. All have been from tirerack, and I go thru alot of tires, lol. Just before winter I got 4 new 17" Michelin Pilot Sports for the maxima for under $400 on closeout!

just bought from them. Took 3 days for the tires to get here. Think theres a warehouse in miami though that may be why.

The issue with running summer tires isn't just ice. Summer tires are grippy in warmth and hard in the cold, which is why people slide and crash on them in the winter. You can get high performance all-season tires like these: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes.jsp?make=Kumho&model=ECSTA+AST which I just got in December and I've been very happy with.

You also choose which warehouse to get delivery from based on supply and location. I chose DE and it took about 2 days delivery time.

I've been buying all my tires (and winter steelies) from Tirerack for several
years now. Prices are great, shipping is fast, I have no complaints.

(yawn) It's late & I have to get up at 4:30 but I don't see the size I have on my car.
The one's you posted were 195/50R15. Mine came with 195/55-15. I think those are shorter correct? Would that effect the way the car handles?
Sorry don't mean to be asking stupid questions. Thanks for all the help!

The 195/55R15 is harder to find at the tire dealers near me. Infact, last time i took them in for rotate balance the guy asked if I payed a lot for that size of tire. I said no because i got them for 57 a piece on tire rack. So the 205/50R15 work on the protege as well?

I think I'm just going to have to stick with a tire dealer & get two at a time.

From what I've seen from Tire Rack & some other's I still have to pay someone to mount & balance them. Most dealer's do that for free it would seem.

I bought winter tires in December, and All season yokohamas from tirerack.com last week. Tire rack is usally pretty good..they cost about $36 to ship to detroit, and they have local installers....
in your size it looks like the kumho ecsta is the only tire cheaper than an arm and a leg...
Today I bought 195-50-15 for my miata, and tire rack had some BS about the tires not being stocked at the local wharehouse, blase, blase blah blah blah..so i bought some yokohama s.drive replacements from them..they charge $20 a tire to mount locally, and teh local discount tire has a new fangled mounting machine that won't scratch aluminum rims.
In general, though...i was happy with the two tire rack purchases i made
