Anyone else getting laughed at?

i drive a modded accord, so i'm used to getting laughed at.......

my fiance drives the 2 to work and i drive it on the weekends if we take the 2 out... def not a manly man's car, but it handles well and gets good gas mileage... good enough for me

I've had my M2 for 3 months now and I also got the 'cute' comments. Some of the guys at work busted my chops about it. Like 'good luck finding it in the parking lot heehee'. But I really don't care because this is my first new car and I'm the one that's going to be laughing as I drive past them pumping $80 to fill their truck tanks.
My former ride was an 03 ford focus sedan that had been paid off for one month before it blew up on me. The engine sounded like it was trying to escape the bay everytime I drove it faster than 60mph. Very loud.
The M2 kicks ass. It grips the curves like nobody's business. Super quiet when idling. The stereo rocks. I won't be able to get the advertised 42 mpg until summer is over and I can stop running the AC. My only issues with the car are no armrest (now it's available) and the smiley front (not as pronounced as the 3).
I am searching/waiting for window vent visors for all doors. I've found some but only for the front doors. Anyone else know where they can be purchased?

Advertised 42 mpg??? Do you mean 32 mpg?
It will actually get 42, but the max advertised on their website is 35 mpg.
I got 42 on my last 2 tanks somehow. I think I coast a lot, but other than that I drive pretty normally.

At the dealer , they had big stickers on the M2's that said 42 MPG. Like you said , it's possible. I think I can get that too if I don't drive like a maniac , which is difficult to do because it's really fun to drive this car like a maniac. lol

When the weather's good the Miata gets more action because of the top down ability. And if I'm with my GF she pretty much always wants to take the Miata with the top down. It's hard to say which car I like better. I have my 2 days and my Miata days. I have more plans for the 2 (involving some CS parts among others) to make it more exciting. It is pretty awesome how well the 2 handles after driving the Miata around. It definitely doesn't feel like a boat after the Miata like my 08 Mazdaspeed3 did.

i get laughed at too. one co worker actually came up with a name for my car. he called it lady gaga mobile. i replied with this GAGA mobile can take me to vegas one way with 75bucks of gas, can u say the samething with ur OJ MOBILE ( he drives a bronco) lol

Anyone else getting ridiculed and laughed at by their friends for owning a 2? I showed up to work and all I got was:

I haven't really gotten laughed at, but a few women have told me they like my car & think it's cute. I didn't tell them the word "cute" doesn't really make a guy feel good about his car.

But anyway I think the car is a little dorky, at least for me since I'm 40. I call it my econobox or my nerd car, but I bought it knowing full well what it was. I still like it.

You have to admit it's a little dorky. The RX8 is the coolest mazda, the miata is cool but some people see it as slightly girly, the mazda3 is cool but perfectly normal/average, the mazda2 is a little nerdy econobox.........................but it's fun to drive. (not as nerdy as the Aveo or Versa, maybe equal to the Fit or Yaris, not quite as cool-looking as the Fiesta or the new Accent).

The new coolest car in town with its smiley face. Even the fiesta looks like an 'old man's car' chrome = old. And when myself and 3 friends got out of the car and viewed it from the donut shop, first thing come to mind is 'Did we really fit in that small car?'.

A friend or two said something then I took them out to the backroads that are all curvy. Ripped through the two ways at 80 and scared the s*** out of them, they don't view it as a "cute" car anymore.



3 of my friends drive wrxs (1 hawk eye, 2 bug eye) and another drives and impreza outback(bug eye). None of them had really been in a Mazda and it surprised the s*** of them especially with it being Mazda's lowest end car.

i agree so much on this. the mazda 2 really does look so much better than the other hatches out there (econoboxes) aveo (boring and not just the looks) fit (a mini mini van) fiesta (looks like some common eurohatch) focus (trying to look like a WRX) accent (trying to look like a focus.) kia....well i wont even bother. dodge? lol dont even know.

i love the 2 and i think with appearance mods/add ons it can have a beautiful aggressive stance
