Anyone coming up on an oil change?

I bought the Wix 51365 with Pennzoil Platinum 0W-20. Mobil 1 would be fine as well.

As for filters I tend to use the K&N one because the nut makes live easy but a Mobil 1 filter would be fine too. Autozone runs specials were you get the Mobil 1 filter and oil for a good price.

I plan on 5K changes using as the manual shows that's OK.

I found that my local Mazda dealer stocks an appropriately-sized oil filter cup wrench for the OEM filters, the part number is 49G014001. It was only $8.50, but the catch is that it'll only fit on the Made in Japan filters for the 2...apparently Mazda has an alternate OEM oil filter that would also work on our cars, but won't fit on the wrench. Apparently it's the same wrench for Miata OEM filters.

^ this is where I got mine, ships quickly & works great, but the 5-pack doesn't come with the crush washers (in case you want them.)

I've had mine on Mobil 1 from day one. Did the first oil change at 500 miles to make sure no filings were floating around in the oil after break in, and have changed every 5000. Also use the Wix filter.
