OK, so I put the Redline MT90 in my MS3. Shifts great, all that stuff.
A cold front came through Houston (middle 40's) and now during the first couple of miles of driving the shifts from 1st to 2nd have a slight grinding. If I take it easy, slow shifting the notchiness is kept to a minimum. After the engine heats things up a bit, about 5 - 10 minutes all is well.
A quick perusal of Redline's web shows that MT 90 is considerably thicker than MTL. MTL is considered a 70/80 wt whereas MT90 is a 75/90. Both are rated as GL-4. So has anyone tried the MTL in their trannie?
I have heard of BMW owners who use Redline D4 ATF in the winter (mostly guys up North) and switch to MTL in the summer. I am considering using MTL in the winter and MY 90 in the summer.
An I crazy?
Do I need a shrink? Opinions apperciated. Thanks AMascio
