Any US Mazdaspeed3 sightings

I have the purchase order with the price written down by the dealership. It lists the quoted price, my non-refundable deposit, as well as my signature for the order. Any fudging of the price would be like... illegal. ^_^v

Did your dealership place an order for you specifically? or were you inquiring about one that was already in the showroom?

I was the fist person in this area to inquire, and place an order for a cosmic blue gt, with no nav. We agreed that I would pay sticker price, no $ down, they said it wouldn't be need needed since I just bought a new Mazda 6 in July. So, they get a silver gt in with nav and ask me to look, or buy it. I said, "nice car, but I wanted a cosmic gt without nav".After looking at it, the silver with nav looked pretty good to me, "lets go for it! After that it all went downhill. They made me an offer for my trade (perfect P5,36,000 miles),$5500, and $31000 for the speed 3. Total BS, they lied. That is not sticker, let alone the insult of only $5500 for my P5, and a markup of $3800 for the speed 3. If you don't have a signed contract, with vin #, you might get surprised when you go to pick her up.(pissed) I really hope it works out for you, as I now have a sower taste in my mouth with Mazda, especially after buying cars from them since 1981.

I meant to type, without vin#. Sorry

Heh. I have a signed contract for $20.5k without VIN on a Black Mica GT. And it was the salesman's idea in case something hapened to the car during shipping I wouldn't be obligated to buy a damaged car.

10k mark-up? Those people are out of their minds. -_-;
Wouldn't you rather get a loaded G35 for that price?
I'm grateful that I'm getting mine without any mark-up. (NoVA FTW!)
(just 2 more months >_<)
yah got mine for 1,000 over invoice

Wow~ I'm so sorry that you had such a horrible dealership experience. I'll be sure to get the vin # as soon as the car is built. ^_^v I've had great luck with my Acura as far as the dealership experience went over the past few years, and frankly that's one thing I'm concerned with the Mazda. Are Mazda dealerships generally decent with customer service? Buying the car is easy, but quality customer service from the dealership isn't always easy to come by.

You got yours under the MSRP? That's awesome! *^_^*

I hate haggling, so I usually just pay whatever they throw at me.
("Just get me the car all right?") keke~
So it's a miracle that they didn't try to rip me off. =p

It depends...

Depends on the dealer. I have nothing but but great things to say about my Mazda dealer's service department. Then again they're others who haven't been so lucky. Then other people who think the dealer owes them something after they jerk them around and shirk loyalty.

Some dealers are HORRIBLE, but they're are consumers who are just as bad. It goes both ways.

It's not only Mazda either. I owned a Honda and the dealer was unprofessional and useless. And a Lexus Dealer I visited to test drive a Used Acura MDX treated me like a second class citizen because I wasn't interested in a new car.

Too many people generalize.

Honda and Toyota dealers are arrogant because their cars are so reliable. The cars sell themselves. It's justified arrogance.

The Dodge dealer wouldn't even let me test drive because I wasn't buying THAT particular day... That's unjustified arrogance.

Just some food for thought. On any any given day, a car dealership could have several people comming in to a dealership for "joyrides". It happens, period. I completely agree that if someone is looking for a new car, they should be able to drive it first and compare it with other models they may be considering. Afterall, you wouldnt buy new shoes without trying them on right? However, on average, a car salesman works 12 hours a day, possibly more if a customer wants to buy a car shortly before closing. Most salesman also work strictly on commission, meaning if they dont sell a car, they have potentionally just worked a 12 hour day and possibly a sixty hour week without earning a paycheck. Now if a salesman took everysingle person who walked in for a test drive who did not really want to buy a car that day, they are basically working for free and missing other potential sales for that day. Even if a salesman is only away on a test drive for ten minutes, those ten minutes can be the difference between him meeting a customer who really is serious about purchasing an automobile and someone who just wants to drive a car just for the sake of seeing how it drives and saying they've driven one.
Like I said, its just some food for thought. If someone is definately in the market to purchase a vehicle, they have every right to drive that vehicle first. No one should be made to buy a product without trying it first. But people who are out there just trying to get joyrides, or see what a car drives like because they might consider buying it a year or two down the road can basically cause somebody a paycheck. And think what you want about car salesmen, but they ARE NOT ALL out there to rob your wallet. Some are just trying to make a decent living while working with the things they love the most...cars.

Yeah, screw 'food' for thought. EVERY other dealer gave me a test drive and the Dodge dealership was empty. I think today I'll drive up in my new car and 'return' their brochure and explain specifically why I didn't think twice about Dodge after the salesman refused to let me even drive one. Yeah, I live in a college town, and yeah, I look mid-20s instead of mid-30s - but he didn't ask me, he just ASSUMED that I was a college kid looking to joyride, especially because I was looking for manual shifts and R/Ts and I wasn't going to buy a car THAT day. It's not a moral decision, he lost a sale that he MIGHT have had if he'd have let me drive the damned car! And of course, I"m telling EVERYONE about that dealership's lousy behavior.

EVERY other dealer I went to in town gave me a test-drive - some of them several - and although I didn't buy the VW GTI, I DID specifically compliment them on their exquisite salesmanship. If I was buying on shopping experience alone, I'd be driving a GTI right now.

When I bought my GTI in 1986 it was due in part because the salesman gave me the keys, and asked me to just be back in about 30 minutes. It was great listening to the car, and not the sell while driving, and although I wasn't planning on buying a car that day, I drove that same car home that night.

I understand that and can understand why you feel that way. Id be pissed as well. Afterall, I dont personally know you and you were apparently looking for a car. Was it wrong of the salesman to just assume you were out for a joyride? absolutely. However, the only point im trying to make is that when I read your comment I was reminded about how many people get pissed off when a dealership wont let them test drive a car when they arnt really looking to buy. Many folks just assume that a dealership owes them a free test drive but in reality if someone is not prepared to offer a salesman their business then they shouldnt expect a salesman to offer them a test drive. i know your situation is different as you were legitimately in the market for a vehicle. Unfortunately its the folks who arnt really looking for a car that ruin it for other younger looking enthusiasts such as you and myself who are in the market for a car. On another sidenote, the MS3 is being released in very limited quantities. Some dealerships are only getting a couple. Again, if a test drive was offered to every customer who just wanted to drive the car, then you would end up with the only couple of MS3 the dealership was getting bumped up in miles. I dont know about you, but I wouldnt want to buy a brand new turbocharged car that has a hundred some odd test driven miles on it, would you? Do you want someone of any age, test driving a car hard that you are considering buying? Its those same people who come into the dealership and arnt really considering buying a car, that get offered test drives and have no respect for a break in period or anything. I cant even begin to tell you the number of MS6's Ive seen where the people redline the car every gear on a test drive just to see what it can do. It makes it very difficult to find an unmolested model when you are shopping.
However, I wish you luck with your new purchase. Drive safely and enjoy. There is nothing like the feeling of driving a brand new car!

Yes, you're right about some things. Three years ago, the Mitsu dealer wouldn't let me test-drive the previous year's EVO because I was a broke student. I get that.

I specifically told the Dodge dealer I'd be buying a car within the next month or two and quite possibly a great deal sooner.

Well than that is his bad for not taking advantage of a situation where a buyer was obviously in the market for a new car. If you told the salesman that and he didnt see it as an open opportunity to earn your business and follow up with you to get you the vehicle you really wanted than all I can say is that he was a poor salesman. But between me and you it seems to have worked out in the best situation imaginable as you now have a new MS3 instead of a dodge. Pretty sweet

This is a stupid question but after reading theses posts, is there a maximum amount of miles they can have on one of their cars before its considered used? Is there a limit?

After seeing the one post where the guy said come back in 30 minutes I thought that was interesting.

Good thing you did get the mazda because the dodge would have probably broken down by now.

I don't know about maximum miles.

Mine had 16 before I test drove it - 19 when I bought it (after my test drive). If I'd have waited for the one on which I put the deposit, I'd prolly have had almost no miles - just whatever is accrued on the assembly line.

Are modern Dodges still 'dodgy'?

Hey yall, I got mine (Red GT) yesterday in Savannah for MSRP. Had 45 miles on it, but 23 of those were from my test drive. Except for a bit of low balling on my trade (2003 Corvette Z06), I was pleased with my dealer. The dealer in Hilton Head had a sport, but they had a 3k mark-up.
