A radar gun can be made to say whatever the officer wants. Showing you the gun is meaningless because of this.osudewd said:they can't give you a ticket if you're not speeding. and they are required to show you the radar they clocked you with if you request it. if they say they used another method which is subjective, it won't hold up in court.

Someone that is familiar with the way radar works and it's inherent limitations and inaccuracies can use those to measure a vehicle's speed as being higher than the actual speed.3Chick said:I work for a police department and have never seen an officer be able to make a radar gun say whatever the officer wanted. osudewd said:Yeah speeding tickets suck. Of course I get mad when I get them, but they were accurate. A bulls*** one would piss me off to no end. I've actually taken a couple of my tickets to court. They reduced a 100 dollar fine to 14 and reduced the charge from running a red to 'muffler violation' which carries no points and doesn't show up on insurance. You should try it, especially if it's your first. There is just a line of people and a prosecuter. You walk up, he glances over your file, offers you a plea like muffler violation and you're on your way. Also one time I contested a ticket for the hell of it and the citing officer didn't show up and the ticket was thrown out.
