Was just wondering if there are any people on these forums that are police officers and what do you think about all us speed junkies here?

**** the police. i hate them after yesterday. the whole system is bulls***. pulling people over for not speeding then giving them speeding tickets just because its a "state mandated speed enforcement day." (jerkit)

it was a lets pull over the car that looks the fastest out of this group and give him a ticket day........totally gay

they can't give you a ticket if you're not speeding. and they are required to show you the radar they clocked you with if you request it. if they say they used another method which is subjective, it won't hold up in court.

A radar gun can be made to say whatever the officer wants. Showing you the gun is meaningless because of this.

ok, i guess that is the cynical point of view. I know if I'm speeding or not, and I would raise hell if they faked a speed.

I work for a police department and have never seen an officer be able to make a radar gun say whatever the officer wanted. Im curious how that would work.

You could point it at someone doing 80, or NEAR someone doing 80, then pull over who they THOUGHT was speeding. Cops make mistakes, that's why they're in the job they're in - easier to cover up yer bulls*** if you're the one enforcing it.

i drive a bad old audi to school at the speed limit. the cops know they can't mess with me (first)

If i was a cop, I'd be corrupt...and help criminals who do minor s*** like speeding, and beat the murderers and rapists....

EDIT* Recently here in the K-W area, we've had alot of racing accidents, and cops are going after anyone who "looks as though they might race and doing a spot check" Which is ******, cause they are talking about rims, exhaust, and 'race' tires. They where showing a tire on the news, that was a 'bald high performance tire. That means that this individual was racing.', it was just a high perf tire like the ones we have stock. It's ******. I hope I get Pulled, so I can take them to court, and ask for my 20 minutes back. Fuckers.

Someone that is familiar with the way radar works and it's inherent limitations and inaccuracies can use those to measure a vehicle's speed as being higher than the actual speed.

I ******* agree with you 200 %

Yeah speeding tickets suck. Of course I get mad when I get them, but they were accurate. A bulls*** one would piss me off to no end. I've actually taken a couple of my tickets to court. They reduced a 100 dollar fine to 14 and reduced the charge from running a red to 'muffler violation' which carries no points and doesn't show up on insurance. You should try it, especially if it's your first. There is just a line of people and a prosecuter. You walk up, he glances over your file, offers you a plea like muffler violation and you're on your way. Also one time I contested a ticket for the hell of it and the citing officer didn't show up and the ticket was thrown out.

Yes, most people don't realize this. I was pissed off when my mom refused to go to court, because 'the officer was right'. Doesn't ******* matter, take them to court, it's your first, and only ticket...make up a beleivable BS story, like the little kid in the passenger seat was about to poop/piss his pants, or you where going to, or you had an emergency call to someones house or something. They will usually reduce the fine, and the points
