Pics will be better soon, Going to go out tomorrow and take some better ones.

err so my super noob skills still need refining quite a bit to get anywhere near, the "good" range.
IM getting better at panning shots, but still gotta work on my lighting compensation, many of these turned out a bit overexposed. i spose PP can help a bit once i get some time to do it.

this was at Subiefest 2010, incredibly bright sunny day...
Here are coupe half decent panning shots. untouched (cept for resize & border i guess).

i shot a variety from ISO 100-200, using AF-C and and manual focus, panning shots turned off VR, and a bit of active d-lighting in still shots with shadow (which turned out kind of dissappointing more than others, lol)
i know its hard to offer tips after the fact and without knowing metadata/conditions for each picture, but just thought id share my progression.

@funky - It's my work HP notebook screen, uncalibrated. I can see weirdest "errors", but some other I cant. I've attached where are the "spots" that I see, but downgraded the quality for faster upload, so check for them on your photos.

Thanks Funky. She was going with a "freaky" look. ;) I'm still learning portrait photography. Much different than shooting cars.

Here's a couple more from the photo shoot in my backyard.

Vocko, if you adjust the highlights you can see it. I'm guessing that Funky had to erase some shadows and that was left behind for the pure white effect.

Ya I had to. When I print them they don't show up though. So it's all good, but I might have to consider going through them again for a website. Any recommendations on how to make that BG pure white?

just adjust the white point? also, moving the right side of the tone curve up creates less contrast in the "nearly white" part of the photo, which makes the variations in a white background less evident... Just be mindful of the subject and take care not to clip highlights on the people.

i hear you on portraits being much different than cars, thats what im used to taking pictures of as well. i like the pictures but think the glare in the second picture is a bit distracting

Thanks dude.

helloooooo track day lense!
would be shmexy for shots from the stands :p

damn that thing its beefy.

I find that I use my Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM a lot. Especially at track events, so this would be a perfect upgrade as an all purpose lens for me. Then I'll most likely sell the 70-300.
