Any photographers in here?

Hey guys I figured I would just post in here and ask instead of making a thread, plus all of you know so much about these cameras. I'm looking to upgrade all I have right now is a konica minolta Dimage Z6. What do y'all suggest for a great camera with changeable lenses of course, but under 1000 dollars. I'm looking to get a lot better at photography because I know very little right now, but want to learn a lot more. I don't anything like a point in shoot from what I have now. I'm looking for something that's going to take me to the next level in photography and can also better my skills I do have to build even stronger

I'd get the T2i, without a doubt. Use the kit lens to learn on and figure out how far you want to go with this photography thing, then go from there. Don't expect to be buying tons of lenses right off the bat. Learn the basics with what you have, and bring your skill up to the level of your equipment before you go crazy. Just my 2 cents.

omggggggggg 10-22 is PIUMP

They look underexposed on my monitor... but it could just be the monitor I have here at work.. LOL.

lol you have some dust on your sensor. Take it in and get it cleaned before you leave!

speaking of that who will clean the sensor? the couple camera shops I've been to just say I have to send it back to Nikon and 6-8 weeks they will clean it for $150 or something ridiculous.

You can get cleaning kits and you can find instructions online. If you don't want to..then send it back to get it cleaned.

I'm scared to clean it myself. Plus I want them to give my 50d a once over and tell me if it needs anything else...

have you cleaned yours funky?

for under a grand you have a lot of great options. canon's new t2i is great. but you also have many good options cheaper than that. a good idea would be to head to barnes and noble, and check out the camera section of their magazine rack. take your time and find a mag thats reviewing budget dslr's and see which fits your needs most. alot of guys here are canon guys, btu nikon is also a great option. staying with those two brands and you are safe, and will have alot of third company lenses to upgrade with too. good luck

Or he can surf online and check out

www.dpreview.com and www.megapixel.net for reviews. Which I htink are better than any magazines out there.

Best way to figure out what you need:

budget
what you want to do (key)
what you're looking for and compare models

I got asked last night about a canon t2i and a nikon d90 and I referred the guy to the d90. The fact is that the T2i is still squeezing 18 megapixels into a sensor size smaller than that of the d90 even with its new gapless microlense technology. Fact of the matter is they're still squeezing a lot of pixels into a sensor size smaller than that of the D90. You're going to be wishing for a higher quality lens to compensate for that loss in image quality. You will notice this if you're printing large photos and/or shooting high ISO levels at night.

Now, since he's pretty new to the game, that probably won't matter but why overlook that part?

A few other things that the Canon can do is you can zoom on Live View mode. The Nikon, you can't. And the Canon has a higher resolution screen but that just means your pictures look great on the camera but might not look good on the computer screen. It's kind of a double edged sword.

Ya i did my own. I bought a sensor cleaning kit from a camera store and did it myself. Looked online on a how-to. I took my time. No distractions or anything and went with it super carefully.

That 10-22mm is mmmmmmm, like it!
What body do you have? I forgot.

Haha, yeah I am quickly falling in love with that 10-22. I thought it would be the 24-70 that I would be attached to, but the 10-22 opens up such a range that I've yet to see before and its so incredibly sharp!

Yeah I have a sensor cleaning kit here and need to hit it before I leave. Spring time here with all the freakin pollen is murder on the poor thing!

You're not the only one to mention it. I could lighten them up a little bit, but I didn't want to blow out that beautiful sky!

That HDR is pretty sick looking, son!

by the way, tonight I'm going to put the 70-200 on the old XTi and see what comes out ;)

I hope you don't mind... I just did a little PS work on one of your shots to bring out the car.. but retain the gorgeous sunset. :)

I actually cut the car out and duplicated the layer. I had the duplicated car layer set to screen at about 75% opacity. Once that was done, I just did a bit of adjusting with curves and sharpened it.

See... I read this, and I hear my bank account emptying... FML. I almost... ALMOST wish they made a cheap superwide. Instead I'll have to save for this bad boy.
