Any photographers in here?

We should try to keep this one none automotive related. Unless it's a true question about how to create an effect or such and not just a "here's my car". Thanks.

BTW- Love the car, keep the DGM lip as is. I did the same with my P5.

(see below)

and...

Thanks, I'm trying to get it painted but I just don't know.

Right, I think it's a great shot too. I was not direct quoting, simply hypothetical in meaning. Just saying it so we don't have this thread start filling up with people in general posting random photos of their car all the time. The context should not be of one person, I apologize Jeg. I'd like to keep it more in tuned with photography discussion and all around creative based on everything.

You don't have to apologize to me... I thought the shot was really well balanced as far as lighting and composition and its photoshopped with the background B&W and the car in color. I spent some time on the pic to make it look like that, its not like a point and shoot and there it is. I know this isn't a place to post things like that, but I mean it is a Mazda forum and I take so many pics of my car its hard not too lol. I like to photograph my car and that was the pic I liked the best of my photoshoot, thats all:)

On topic: I'm glad this isn't my daily view to get to work this winter:)

That 2nd wedding shot w/ the couple..did you have to do some noise reduction? Anyways..awesome pics here..damn!

I'm not in here as much as I used to be, so sorry for the delay. I have a bunch of saved actions that I run on some of the stuff that I upload. I don't remember if there was any noise reduction or not, but I'd think not. I shoot all of my wedding's between 200-400 iso.

I have more that I'll post. It's been a busy month, and I still have 3 weddings worth to catch up on.

Here are a few more:

I have 3 more wedding shoots to still sort though. All of which were a great time and had a ton of shots that I liked.....

The 8 has been great! I created a blog. http://altspacerx8.blogspot.com

I thought this photo was a creative capture.

No worries braddah, love your capture too. I'm diggin the blog. I should have done something like that when my car was in its prime...

Here's another from the B-17 set:

wmbeaver: Your images look a little underexposed. I just calibrated my monitor so I feel pretty confident that the images appear dark for most people. I shoot a D50 (I think you do, too) and I always underexpose in the camera since it gives me ultimate ability to set a final exposure at home. But you got to follow that up with some PP work to get everything just right. I can't image posting an image online that has not at least been opened in PS if only to confirm it doesn't need any type of work. Anyway, slight curves adjustment plus unasharpen mask is so fast it can't be used as an excuse for why you don't PP.

Also: Make your flickr image links pop-outs or 'open in new tab' links. Its annoying to leave the forums...

Anyway, just my $0.02.

I went to the local Jaguar car club concours de mediocrity this weekend. There were a few nice cars but overall feeling is that it was much ado about nothing.

First image is of the 'leaper' the traditional Jaguar hood ornament. The hood was up and the lighting was perfect; the car was one of only three that was under a three-season structure which provided some filtering of the bright sun.

Second image is the engine oil cap and valve cover of a early post-war car. My favorite part of this image is the orange of the head. This was a 19050's vintage and I don't know if that color was authentic for the era. The car was in immaculate condition otherwise so I have to believe the color is accurate.

This final image is of a nice white convertible, err I mean the side of that pretty green convertible. The paint on this car (the engine is above) is the best I have ever seen on any restored car. Ever. I hope this image does it justice. No detail was lost in the reflection. I can count the number of floors in all the surrounding buildings and see expressions on faces of people in the shady background. In the full-size image I can easily count all the spokes on the rear wheel.

Hey guys, i'm trying to take a surrealist picture for a class and i'm wanting to do one of those pictures where the person is holding the sun.

I just bought a new rebel xsi and i'm having trouble finding the right settings to have a silhouette of the person.

Any suggestions or recommendations?

I know to shoot early or late in the day, with a higher ISO. I think my problem has been just that, not shooting early or late enough.

I've heard from several people that my pictures do look underexposed. So I'll have to see about fixing that. And I've never heard of that issue with flickr, but I can imagine it would be annoying. I feel the same way, so I'll fix that.

What mode are you shooting in and what time are you shooting? You should not need a high iso if you're just trying to get his silhouette. Start by shooting in Ap mode and expose for the brighter background. Maybe f8 or higher. Are you still using the kit lens? I almost always leave the focus point set to the center point. You can also try changing the metering modes. Evaluative, Partial, Spot, Center-weighted average etc. This will change what it evaluates for the exposure.

Welcome to the D-SLR world!

Step 1: Buy this book

Understanding%20Exposure.jpg

https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned)

In the mean time, you can shoot at any time of the day and get a silhouette. The sun will always be the brightest object in the sky...in fact NOT getting a silhouette with the sun at your subject back requires a flash or reflector.

You camera will make this easy on you. Shoot in Aperture Priority mode as itrhybrid suggests. The camera will automatically adjust shutter-speed and ISO to expose the image at a predetermined level. You can adjust this exposure by adjusting exposure compensation. Hold a button that looks like this [+/-] while scrolling the selector wheel (I think, I shoot Nikon) to adjust exposure up or down in 1/2 or 1/3 stop increments. The book will tell you what a "stop" is and what it means in photography terms but its not important for this first exercise.

here are 2 photos from some homes I shot recently.
