ugggh!!! those are so colorful ugly ass things!!!

we have a spider up front of my house, its small compared to the pic above, but it has a big bubble behind. i'd say its about 1 1/2 to 2" long. nothing really huge.

I was working on my car Saturday at a friends house nearby, and as I was leaving I spotted one of those spiders in my rear view mirror. He had built his web on the street's stop sign. That thing was easily the size of my fist... too bad i didn't have the camera with me

We have the same spider in my area as well!!!

Your area is my area...same area.

I went back the next weekend and the spider was gone. There had not been any rain so I suspect the spider was eaten by something higher up on the food chain.

I've never seen a spider that large hanging out in the yard before. Makes me creeped out a bit to think as a kid I used to play flashlight tag and I hid in trees and bushes all the time without giving a second thought to spiders. Or maybe huge spiders are just another sign of global warming...

I agree when I walked by I jumped and was lke."What the Hell?" Its web was between 2 bushes that were atleats 2 feet apart from each other...

Everytime I go to my parents house down in fredericksburg now I look for those spiders!!!

They are garden spiders and harmless... But scary big, LOL..

If you guys couldn't tell, I like planes... Here's some that I've had published on this website:

Images not submitted for the September contest. I must admit that I came very late to this contest. These pictures and the one I entered were all taken on the last day of the contest (yesterday).

These are great. I like the idea of a 50mm for such close work, but I wonder if the 85mm f/1.4 wouldn't give a more comfortable working distance with portrait subjects. For $80 its impossible to beat the quality of the lens. The Nikkor version will probably be the next lens purchase I make as well. Too bad the Nikon is $30 more.

PS: Take the tag on the frog out in Post and you'd have something really special there.
