I haven't posted in awhile...I haven't shot in awhile. I go out with my buddies the other day for an hour or two of shooting. I just looked at my photos and 95% of them aren't perfectly focused...I know when I was focusing they were sharp to MY EYE in the viewfinder. I'm just freaked out because my eye injury from 2 years ago might be starting to affect my eye. Not cool
So who called it? I think the D300 is the sh!t, but did anyone see the specs for the LOOOOOONG awaited D3? http://www.dpreview.com/news/0708/07082312nikond3.asp
It has a new full-frame sensor, new EXPEED image processor, ISO settings to 25,600(!), shoots 9fps (11 in high speed crop), HDMI port, remote control port (also for GPS), dual compact flash compartments, mirror-up mode, Liveview mode...

A buddy of mine has the D200 and yes, It is nice. I want it, too rich for my blood though. I'm currently using his D100 but I should be picking up my D80 in the next couple of weeks. I'd really like one with a macro lens but I don't feel like buying my D80 off off ebay to get one. I'm probably just going to best buy and purchasing a macro lens later on.
Dude, there's a big difference between eBay and Best Buy...why don;t you just order from B&H? They will beat Best Buy in price and service and, especially, in accessory pricing...lenses, flashes, bags, tripods, etc.

From the HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) port for output to the latest HD displays. The new VGA screen also comes into its own when using the new Live View function premiered in the D3 and D300. Unlike other live view technologies, autofocus in possible in all Nikon Live View modes.
The D3 is the worlds first D-SLR to offer dual CompactFlash card slots for outstanding storage flexibility. A photographer can shoot images to each card one after the other, or simultaneously, as back up. When shooting combined NEF and JPEG files, the NEF image can be written to one card and the JPEG version to the other. Image files can also be selected and copied from one card to the other after shooting.
Now, with the new Nikon Wireless Transmitter WT-43, the era of the multi camera network has arrived. Not only can one transmit (push) images to servers and remotely control the camera from afar, the WT-4 also enables remote browsing of the cameras image thumbnails as well.
In a wireless environment, networks of up to 5 D3 and D300 cameras can be established. At a sports event, for example, photo editors could browse all thumbnails on each camera simultaneously, selecting (pulling) the images they need, while the photographers continue shooting.
I understand that this stuff is currently appearing on a $5K camera. But in three years most of this technology will be available for a camera I can afford. Its exceiting to see the camera manufacturers competing with such great new developements.

I've always kept B&H in mind. But me not having my own credit card kind of slows things down. My parents hate using the plastic online. Its bs
Word, well me thinks maybe its time for you to establish some credit. I know this guy at work who collects Simpson's figures. He twice got his identity stolen from his paypal account and now he refuses to shop online. I says its the shady Simpson's figurine dealers, not the internet in general, that were his downfall.
BTW, if mom and dad use a major credit card account (not debit account) they are protected. If they notice anything funny on their statement they spend 10 minutes on the phone and the suspicious charge goes away.
self cleaning sensors have yet to be proven to make any difference. It doesn't work on the Sony alpha, it doesn't work on the Canon XTi. We'll see how it turns out for Nikon.
Any way, most pros are capable of cleaning their own sensors so it wouldn't be used on the D3 by most. It's not difficult; people just need to overcome the fear of the cleaning process.

Ya I've got about 14000 actuations now. Sensor still clean..but the focusing prism is kinda messed now.
